Super high CPC, low volume - worth it?

I've come across a number of keywords with medium difficult with CPC over $5 and volumes around 4000 in total.

Would it be worth it to target such low volumes? Also, the keyword is industrial/scientific machinery. So, I can;t exactly use amazon affiliate on this, if I decide to go ahead.

Have people tried targeting things like this in the past?

For me, 4000 is kind of high if the CPC is $5. I would rather look for easy keywords with high volume because adsense shows ads based on the users. So what matters is the number of traffic, not the CPC.

How about instead of adsense, possibly converting this to a funnel site for people searching for this industrial/scientific product? Anyone done that?

I personally would aim for 5k+, but that's just me.

In my opinion... useless (in case of Adsense)!

I have 2 websites ranking #1 on their main kw.. both +5 years old. One is a large volume low cpc, the other one is the exact opposite. Guess which one brings in more dough? The large volume site.. Adsense is often showing ads based on search history/cookies etc then content related. So even if you have a 5$ cpc keyword, if your visitor has searched for 'brooms' in the past, it is very likely your adsense will show an ad for 'brooms' lol.
