    Hello,

I'm planning to upgrade one of my sites to VPS. Please suggest some best VPS hosting providers at affordable rates.
My site is not too big, just a normal vbulletin forum with very small number of posts.

    Thanks

I'd go with KnownHost especially with their SSD plan. The support and server spec as well as speed is great.

    1. SiteGround's cloud hosting plans for maximum quality. It's pricey but worth every single dime.
    2. BlueHost's vps plans for medium quality. Starter plan would be suitable for you.

    Choice is yours.

Bluehost and CheapWindowsVPS have both been very kind to me with my sites and how much traffic they get.

I've been using RockVPS for over a year now and haven't had any issues. It's really cheap also.

    Thanks for the suggestions guys.
I'm looking into knownhost and rockvps
Will I need to have cpanel in vps? I have never used vps so I don't know how it works.

Some VPS have kind of cPanel like dashboard. But mostly, you remote connect, using Remote Desktop, to your VPS. It's similar to dedicated server but VPS is a shared server (or virtual server).

Think of it as a single PC with multiple OS installed via VirtualBox. Each OS acts as a VPS, installed on 1 hardware (with multiple OS).

    Thanks for explaining.
I have found a vps plan: 1 CPU Core, 1GB Ram, Disk 20GB, Bandwidth 250GB, 1 IP Address, cpanel included for $14.95 per month.
So whats you opinion about having a vbulletin forum on this package? Forum is very new, less than 1000 posts and less than 100 users registered.

Go with a SSD VPS. Where is the majority of your traffic coming from?

You'll need cPanle as you don't know how to use. As KnownHost is managed hosting, just add $5/month for cPanel license you're good to go.

If you're already familiar with cpanel it's better if you go with it and get it managed otherwise you may have a hard time with a vps.

I wouldn't recommend running cpanel with vbulletin on that package. You should look for at least 2 gb of ram or more.

+1 for PowerUpHosting, never had any problem with them. Another providers you could look at are ShapeHost & Serverhosh. I have used all of their services, and they are all good. For offshore hosting, I would recommend abelohost. :)
