Personally I consider SolVPS.com to be one of the best places where you can get cheap VPS hosting deals.
They own servers in USA and UK. They have top-notch customer service, responding to trouble tickets immediately and consistently.
 
I would personally recommend Host-stage (They are a member here as well) - service is very reliable and also they are extremely knowledgeable and efficient when it comes to support.
 
Give a try sоmее.соm vps hosting, they offer a trial I think it was 7 days for a $1.

I used for a few years futurehosting. Probably they're not the best or cheapest, but they worked well and tech support was good.
 
I would always suggest offshore seo vps because they are the best their support is top notch. Their chat box is the best. I can get ahold of anyone anytime I need to on their website over their chat box. You may have a look.
 
Another vote for Knownhost. I have moved a forum and few important sites there 5 years ago and I don't think I had to make more than 2 tickets per year. And I don't think any of those are about downtimes. Their support is fast and have technical the knowledge.

Support is active for 24 hours. They fix issues very fast in terms of necessity.

In that case try WiredTree. I have been with them since 2009 and never regretted. WHM/cPanel is standard with their VPS and dedi plans, they don't sell shared hosting either. So you can be sure that your resources in a server are not going to be shared by hundreds of websites.

I've had terrible experiences with bluehost. I had a VPS with them for around 6 months, had so much downtime I decided to move elsewhere.

As your site is not too big i recommend you to please look for an self-managed VPS with basic plan, like 1Gb RAM, 50Gb HDD etc.

are you looking in EU or USA? If in europe you can try Bacloud, cheap but good servers.
 
VPS accounts from hostsailor.com and a2hosting.com are worth trying.
