    Hey guys,

As posted earlier(http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...dle-11k-day-traffic-should-i-upgrade-vps.html) I have a site getting 10k-11k visitors/day but since it's hosted on shared hosting it painfully slows down and even spits 503 service temporarily unavailable error, Now I've decided to get a Linux VPS but I'm not sure what configuration should I go for:

Please suggest a vps config which can easily handle 50k visitors/day

    Thanks a lot :)

    Home Page:
what type of cms do you use?? wordpress???
If yes, a good config is this:
VPS with 2 core but also 1 core is good
    512mb ram (dedicated)
put debian on it and install tuxlite (google it)
this config never generate a 503 error...
you need only to choice a network that has a good connection ;)

Go for a VPS with atleast 2 cores & depending of the type of plugins you are using may 1 GB - 2 GB ram . Check knownhost they are really good . They also current have some promos , 75 % off for the first month : http://www.knownhost.com/specials.html

I'd suggest purchasing a dedicated server. It's much better at handling 50 thousand unique views per day.

I love my car analogies. You're asking people what truck you should buy to haul your loads but you're forgetting the most important thing... What are you hauling?

Put simply, unless we know what you're doing and how you're doing it, 50k visitors a day could be handled on a shared with some tweaks while on other hands it could require a dedicated server with dual quads to run smoothly. Platform? Queries? File size? Are you using a CDN or no?

Just on a pure visitor amount and assuming basic cms setup, you're looking at around a dual core with ~1.5 gigs of ram. The CPU will get you over most hurdles and the RAM is sufficient enough to play with MySQL settings to see if you need more or less. This is also assuming you go with a non-oversold VPS and is tuned out of the box.

It is a wordpress blog with tweaked twenty eleven theme and contains some 321+ posts with high quality content, I get 90% of the traffic from search engines and the rest 10% is direct. I have installed statcounter for analytics which reports 10-11k visitors/day and 30k page views/day
I use a great deal of plugins:
All in one seo pack, antispam bee, Exclude Pages from navigation, Google Adsense Accelerator, Google XML Sitemaps, Headspace2, iframe, nrealate Flyout, Pretty Link Lite, Secure Wordpress, Seo Smart Links, Sociable, Social Media Widget, Subscribe2 and Subscribe2 widget, Subscribe to Comments Reloaded, Twenty Eleven Theme Extensions, Wordpress Social Login, WP-Copyprotect, Wp-PageNavi, Wp Mobile Detector, Wp Super Cache, Yet Another Related Posts Plugin

and When I directly sell my banner space to advertisers I use Adrotate Plugin too

As mentioned above I use WP Super Cache plugin to cache the webpages but even it's not helping much to handle the traffic because this plugin autodeletes the cached webpages in some time (phenoma named as garbage collection)

Now can you please tell me that can a dual core vps with 512 dedicated ram be fine to handle 50k visitors/day with this kinda website

    Thanks :)

dual core with 512m should be fine, but for safety I'd atleast get 768.
