Sudden Ranking Drop After Initial Success (SEO Help Needed)

Hi everyone, I’d love to get some expert insights on a sudden ranking issue I’m facing.

My website is less than a month old. After some initial SEO work, the main page quickly climbed to the top 3 (ranks 1–3) on the first page. However, for some reason, the ranking suddenly plummeted and has been stuck on page 8 ever since.

Before the drop, these were the only actions I took:

  1. Backlink Building: I purchased a backlink package from Fiverr.
  2. AI Content: I used Gemini AI to generate about 36 blog posts and published them at a rate of one per day.
  3. Content Updates: I added reviews and contact information to keep the page information fresh.
Currently, the site consists of 5 main/sub-pages and 36 blog posts. I’m wondering if the ranking dropped because the AI-generated content was flagged as duplicate/low-quality, or if there’s another underlying reason.

If the AI-generated blog posts are indeed the problem, would simply deleting the duplicate/low-quality posts be enough to recover my rankings?

I would truly appreciate any help or guidance from the pros here. Thank you in advance!

Are you editing the content manually to add some humanity and real copy to it?
Is it a more specific sub-niche/localized or general content oriented?
What was your bounce rate?
Were you promoting the content in any way other than SEO?
Did you cite sources/use links in your content plus combine with media so it seems more authoritative/easier to digest?

Just a few questions off the top of my head.

On desktop,
the First Contentful Paint is 2.6 seconds,
the Largest Contentful Paint is 7.7 seconds,
the Total Blocking Time is 300 milliseconds,
the Cumulative Layout Shift is 0.009,
and the Speed Index is 4.1 seconds.
For the overall scores on desktop,
I received a 45 for Performance,
89 for Accessibility,
92 for Best Practices,
and 100 for SEO.

On mobile,
the First Contentful Paint is 14.9 seconds,
the Largest Contentful Paint is 22.0 seconds,
the Total Blocking Time is 90 milliseconds,
the Cumulative Layout Shift is 0,
and the Speed Index is 15.2 seconds.
The mobile scores are 55 for Performance,
88 for Accessibility,
92 for Best Practices, and 100 for SEO.

I manually edited the main page and sub-pages using a combination of HTML and CSS. Since the website is for a local pub, I focused specifically on localized content. However, for the blog section, I published AI-generated posts as they were, without any manual editing or additional optimization.

I have not promoted the content through any channels other than SEO. While I utilized internal linking, I did not include any outbound (external) links at all.

According to Google Search Console over the past three months, my metrics were as follows:
  • Total Impressions: 3,880
  • Total Clicks: 123
  • Average CTR: 3.2%
  • Average Position: 17.7
Currently, however, my ranking has plummeted to the 60th–70th range. I am writing this because I am not exactly sure why the ranking has dropped so significantly.
 
Your site is just experiencing the classic Google Honeymoon effect where brand new domains get a temporary boost before hitting the Sandbox. However, blasting a one-month-old site with cheap Fiverr backlink packages is absolute suicide. Google definitely caught those toxic links; deleting the AI posts won't fix a penalized link profile.

In that case, how should I handle it?
 
If your rankings suddenly drop after an initial good ranking, it's usually due to Google's re evaluation, increased competition, or weak SEO signals. Sometimes, outdated content or decreased user engagement can cause your rankings to drop. To fix this, update your content, improve speed and mobile performance, and focus on quality backlinks.
 
A sudden ranking drop after an initial spike is frustrating but it’s also very common. Most of the time, it’s not a penalty. It’s your site settling into where it actually belongs after a temporary boost.
If your content isn’t deep enough, doesn’t satisfy intent fully or lacks authority.
Rankings drop after that test phase.

1. Unless you value your ranking and website, never buy a backlink package from Fiverr. Those are mostly cookie cutter software generated links.

2. Did you read the content and compare it to the other websites in the top 5 of the targeted keywords? Did your article answer the search query for the keyword?

3. What is your internal link structure looking like? How well is it set up?

Looks like your site just hit a re-evaluation phase — early rankings on new domains often drop once Google processes link quality and content depth properly. those Fiverr backlinks + bulk AI posts likely sent mixed signals, especially if they’re thin or repetitive.

instead of deleting everything, it’s better to audit and upgrade content, clean toxic links, and build a more natural SEO foundation. this kind of recovery usually needs a proper strategy, not quick fixes, so doing a structured cleanup + growth plan can make a big difference.
