Sudden drop in traffic after removing ghost followers

I just had a sudden drop in traffic - about 50% after removing about 75 ghost followers over the weekend manually with the remove button.

It looks like this stupid algorithm cannot distinguish between people unfollowing me and me getting rid of followers. The Saturday purge showed up as "unfollowed you" in statistics.

Maybe it was a bad idea switching to a creator account? Hashtags also pretty much stopped working since I switched to a Creator account (getting just 1% of non-followers to come to my account)

PS: My account has never been botted, I never bought followers.

Those ghost followers were harming your account anyway? Why you removed them?

I still have 14.1k followers. I removed 75 followers that had very few posts and followed 3000+ accounts.

I was acting on recommendation articles on the internet and also to one thread here on BH that recommended to remove them to get engagement up (as IG shows your content first to a small group of your followers, and if they don't respond IG thinks the content is bad. So if you have ghost followers that are no longer active, they would never respond to any content, lowering your engagement)

But my experience was that you should let ghost followers haunt.

Not sure what to do now. Should I not log in for a few days until this blows over?

it was may be due to the fake visitors / bot visits which reduced the activity traffic on your site

Sorry to hear that man, but I've yet to see anyone provide proof that mass removal of followers has improved their account in any way.

Gladly it wasn't a mass unfollowing but about 75 followers.

Maybe this is also a trick. To drop traffic to get me to pay for their useless ads they can show to the robot accounts.

But I'm not falling for it. If IG wants to play dirty, it can sit in its own dirt. They think they disable all the automation for individuals - and leave that for the big fake influencer and crappy celebrities intact - and then everybody will spend the hell on the ads they will have an awakening.

I'm taking a good look if IG still has something to offer for an artist.
