Please help a brother out!

So the company that Im currently working at is looking into transferring its blog subfolder to its own subdomain, at the beginning I thought that the sites authority would transfer to the subdomain in the same way a subfolder would but Ive been reading a lot of conflicting info. This site has huge domain authority and ranks really fast for its industry, so even the few blog entries that are up right now are performing well and Im scared that by migrating to a subdomain we will lose our momentum. The benefit that brings having it in its own subfolder is that we will be able to work it on WP instead of html so it would make things like publishing new blog posts faster and make it operate more independently.

Just to give a bit of context the strategy currently implemented is to target long tail and evergreen queries on the blog and direct them to the eCommerce.

I would not do that. Sub-domain is treated almost as a separate website.

Think of it like...
Sub-folder is a child.
Sub-domain is an orphan.

Its all depends on where is an authority established. On money site or blog.
You have two scenarios.

If your money site is ranking because of the blog then you leave it as a subfolder.
This is the so-called "Huffpost method of SEO Strategy".

If your money site is the authority itself them I suggest moving to subdomain.
This is the so-called "ZDnet method of SEO Strategy".
Websites that have their own authority by self tends to have their own authority on subdomains or even domains later if you are spreading the marketing activities with the following meaning:
-Blog
-Forum
-Community
-Support/FAQ

The subdirectory strategy concentrates your keywords onto a single domain while the subdomain strategy spreads your keywords across multiple distinct domains. In a word, the subdirectory strategy results in better root domain authority

Yeah, Subdomain is treated as another website.

Depends on what you are ranking the main domain for. For example, if you have an e-commerce main domain you often want to create the blog on a subdomain, as otherwise, it may compete against itself when you write blog posts close to product keywords.
It is considered as a separate domain though, so if keyword cannibalization is not an issue then subfolder is the way to go

Why would they transfer the blog to subdomain? It's best where it is, subfolder is better than subdomain in general unless you have a something like a dashboard

my theory is this, correct me if I wrong;
you see the big guys claiming more and more markets, more niches, more serps real estates....serp spots...

When you have a bigger sites with category pages or subfolders, google will showing your website 1x time in the serps, maybe when you have multiple category pages google will showing up them so that your sites is showing multiple times in the serps, like you see this with ecommerce sites who have multiple category pages.

But.....when you have in your same niche, multiple websites similar domain names (variations) for each content format, like this:

mynamne.com (main site) ...
mynameguides.com= site for pillar content/ guides
myspot.com= site for podcasts
myshow= site for videos
etc, etc,etc...

so you spreading your content topics throughout multiple domains, each interlinking to the other sites in the footer.
With htis method you will showing up multiple times in related topics/keywords in the serps= build seo real estates...

Correct me if this is wrong
