Socialinsider just put together a complete study about Instagram engagement in which they analyzed 102,700,573 Instagram posts from a total of 62,895 business profiles.

They discovered that:

➤ Instagram's engagement decreases in 2021 back to its initial values from 2019.
➤ Instagram carousels bring higher engagement rates for small accounts.
➤ Captions up to 10 words increase engagement on Instagram for businesses.
➤ Carousel posts led to a higher impression rate on Instagram.
➤ Videos increase the median number of comments for larger Instagram accounts
➤ Images return more savings on Instagram for larger Instagram profiles.

Hey all, I have a brand new business account (all white hat) and from my little experience with it, even when using the exact same tags and posting the carousel at the exact same time, my carousels never get more than about 12 impressions while single image posts go to the 250-300 impressions. I have checked to see if they appear in the tag feeds and yes, they are all there, I feel IG is manipulating something - I just can't figure it out.

If the carousel is located higher up in the hashtag feed, and the single image post is lower down, how on earth does the single post get more impressions when everyone viewing the tags have to scroll past the carousel fist to get to the single image post lower down, triggering an impression - or am I understanding this all wrong?

The first point is just going to reduce more year by year lol,That's how they are planning to increase their Ad Revenue :D
Just like Facebook.com and Google. They are going to reduce organic reach/engagement to a minimum. In fact, this is happening right now.

This is happening since quite some time :) Started from 2019/2020 for many users, sadly !
