Strange wordpress problem.

I`m having a weird problem with wordpress, i think maybe related to tinymce.

I have no visual editor and can only edit HTML, which is fine but its starting to get to me now

I have had this problem for the past few days, tried deactivating all the plugins, deleted tinymce folder and reupped it.

Any ideas would be great.

I've had this exact problem with a wpmu install, I read somewhere that it might be repeated settings in the database but I haven't a clue how to fix it + I don't want to break my install completely by messing around :/

Visual Editor - Disable the visual editor when writing

Thanks It fixed mine

I unchecked the box updated the options, went to make a post, then went back to the profile and checked it again = Working.

Ok tried that and still no joy!!! the only differance if i uncheck the visual editor is that the tab disappears.

Try disabling plugins. Sometimes an old plugin may try to drop an item in the Kitchen Sink that messes up the menu.

Thanks for the tip but have tried that already too

I even thought it might help if i deleted the whole database and re-import it, what i BAD idea that was, tha database is 33mb and i was having connection problems, it took about 2 hours to get that fuckin database back up and running and all for nothing!!!!!

I can put up with not being able to use the visual editor as i always use dreamweaver any.

try to deactivate themes and plugins. If still not working, then you should reinstall WP again.
