Strange after 301 redirect

More than 1 week ago I redirected a high-quality expired domain 301 to a niche website. The expired domain was indexed by Google 5 days ago, but so far, I have searched via ahrefs tool and found the none backlinks of my niche website from expired domain. At the same time, the ranking of the SERPs of niche websites has not fluctuated.
PS： I set the 301 redirect correctly
I would like to ask what is the reason for this? Is this normal? Do I need to wait longer?

Redirects can take months to take effect. And I really hope that the domain you redirected was very closely related to your money site.

Ahrefs may never got the 301 so do not count to them.

What you need to do is to type site:your-expired-domain in Google to see if Google already indexed the 301s (if yes - you will see the Title and description of your money website). After Google index the redirect, you usually start seeing the effect (good or bad) in days. Note that 301 works in mysterious ways. I did various tests and sometimes the stupidity of Google is amazing.

Nah. I was thinking the same, but the reality is that you can use whatever you have and to get great result, and to use practically the same niche same URLs even and to tank your website. Did a test last month - put the redirects (from live, ranking website) - the money site dropped 100 positions overnight, removed the redirect, get the ranking back overnight again. The funny part was that then I start doing 1 page at the time, and can you guess what pages was causing the problem? The homepage (that ranked high - several top 3 positions 2k+ traffic) for practically the same keywords, and the T&C page. Basically - fuck logic. Its hit and miss, with no longterm problems. So my advice now is go for it, if the website ranking drop - remove the redirect and will be fine.

Christ... this is why I would never point 301 at already ranking and earning site. Interesting though that the redirect was so fast to take effect. Maybe something to do with the recent updates? I've never seen it act that fast.
 
I am also facing issues after 301 redirect.
Many URLs of my site are not showing on google search for main keywords.
It already more than 25 days.

It has been indexed successfully by Google for 6 days, and I have not seen any change in the position of the keywords

No idea - I did not even used indexer, the live website was getting decent traffic, had 300+ RDs, with some recent updates of the content so probably Google indexed it quite often. Well when you are in really competitive niches... you have to take risks in order to succeed. :) Someone here shared a story how his boss did 5 301s same day, got his website manual penalty, removed the 301s, filled request - get his ranking back as nothing happened. So it seems that Google is quite forgivable for this kinda of shit.

It ’s been 25 days since 301 redirects. Did n’t your SERPs in your niche site improve?

My most of the urls are not showing on google for main keywords.
Well i have started a new thread for it. Could you please have a look into it.

I have a theory that 301s sometimes doesn't work as expected, when you are not aggressive enough with your money anchors. Like lets say you are trying to rank for "black hat forum". You have say 60 RDs, 10% of your anchors have money keywords in them (black hat, black hat community, black hat forum etc), but when you did 301 of a domain that have 200 RDs, suddenly you have now 260 RDs and your money keyword anchors are down to nothing. Your page start to rank for the things the expired domain was ranking before, but your money keywords doesn't move. Saw this more than once, but did not test it yet to see what would happen if put several new shitty links with money keywords in the anchors, after the redirect.

Had domain banned in google, all links deleted, last summer after the core update. 3 months later domain back in google with like 20% of links back, changed script and forgot about it, and from like some weeks started to rank again. So yeah all shit works nowadays, just need tests!
