I’m not sure if I should use sticky or rotating proxies. I use proxies for things like scraping, bots, and handling a few accounts. Sticky sounds more stable, but rotating might help avoid getting blocked
Can anyone explain which one works better and why? I’d really appreciate your help!

You should use rotating proxies, it's better than fixed

It really depends on your use case. If you're managing accounts or running bots that need to stay logged in, sticky proxies are better. If you're scraping websites fast, rotating proxies are the way to go. Depending on your specific use case, mobile proxies could fit both scenarios.

It depends on your scraping actions. If you abuse, the IP will be get banned soon, so the rotating ones are better.

sticky proxies are great when you need session consistency (like logging in or form filling), while rotating proxies work better for scraping or bulk tasks where avoiding detection is key.

If you need a new IP every request which is normally recommended for scraping. If you're trying to create an account or something, sticky is better

I suggest that you use a rotating proxy, which will be helpful for the progress of your web scraping business.

If you need to login accounts and maintain them, sticky proxies works better, but if you use auto tools and don't need to re-login accounts, you can use rotating

Great question — it really depends on your use case:
  • Sticky Proxies: These keep the same IP for a set amount of time (e.g., 10–30 mins). Best for actions that require session consistency — like logging into accounts, scraping multi-page data, or bot flows that mimic real users.
  • Rotating Proxies: These change IPs with every request or at short intervals. Good for mass scraping or high-volume tasks where you don’t need to maintain a session. Helps avoid rate limits and IP bans.

Quick guide:
  • Account management / Bots → Sticky
  • Scraping (lightweight, high-volume) → Rotating
  • Scraping (deep, logged-in, or paginated) → Sticky

For best results, mix both depending on your setup. Some providers even let you configure the rotation window to fine-tune behavior.

Quick Decision Guide

  • "I need stability" (accounts/login sessions) → Sticky.
  • "I need evasion" (scraping/bots) → Rotating.
  • "I do both" → Test a hybrid or use sticky for accounts + rotating for scraping.
(Stats: 79% of scrapers use rotating proxies for heavy tasks, while sticky dominates for smaller jobs.)

I recommend using a Pia Proxy, as it can significantly support the growth and efficiency of your web scraping business.

For parsing, scraping etc, rotary ones are better because they will help to avoid a ban and they are cheaper.
Sticky are better when working with accounts, because you can lose accounts due to a change of IP on rotating proxies.

I recommend rotating residential proxies to capture data, because changing IPs can hide and capture data well.

Use rotating proxies for scraping
sticky proxies for anything involving login or sessions
.

Many providers let you switch between both — use that flexibility to your advantage

For your use, sticky proxies are better.

If your task is mainly small-scale data scraping or you need to maintain session continuity, such as managing social media accounts or making online purchases, then a sticky proxy may be more suitable for you. It can provide a stable connection and will not change IP frequently in a short period of time, thus avoiding session interruptions.

If your task is large-scale data scraping or you need to bypass strict anti-crawler mechanisms, a rotating proxy is a better choice. It greatly reduces the risk of being detected and blocked by frequently changing IP addresses.

In addition, you can also consider using a combination of two proxies. For example, you can first use a sticky proxy to log in to the target website, and then switch to a rotating proxy for data scraping. This hybrid approach can reduce the risk of detection while maintaining session stability.

For account management, we recommend using fixed IP addresses. Rotating IPs are better suited for web scraping activities.
