Hi, I bought good electronic items and am planning to open a local online shop, mostly on facebook and instagram.

The "only" issue I am having is the start up itself, I'm not quite set on what to start with. Should I try to get friends/followers without adding products or add products and then add pictures?

I have solid ideas for the future, but the first few steps are a puzzler for some reason.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

if you have a solid plan for the future, the sooner you start the best.

Start adding content to your social profiles and getting the store known around right now :)

First setup your site, add all products and make sure you are ready to sell and ship the product (Payment gateway, shipping company, website). Then start the second part i.e. promotion.

I already have content that I have in mind for adding. Should I buy facebook page likes and promotions/ads?

Not quite sure how to start out and reach out to people.

Have you ever done the promotions? How well do they work? The only "issue" I have is starting and getting likes. Not quite sure how to get my page known, even though I think I have great plans for the future.

Right now I am trying to get page likes from free groups, considering paying for that and for promotions.

Thanks for the advice!

You will get quicker / better results using google adwords, when you start out.

Google is search marketing, in other words people are actively looking for the product.

Fb is interruptive marketing, people are on fb doing something else and your interrupting them.

I don't have much knowledge about Google marketing; I am focusing on Facebook and Instagram because that's how the people of my country buy items. The reason being - they pay the deliveryman on hand and they receive the items.

That is a bad business model for online and I would not go anywhere near it.

Good luck on your business, one question
are you from Albania ?

Well, i don't think so, in some countries this model gives a lot of confidence, people are not very familiar with credit card payments and so this model is the best advantage in third world countries, everything goes smooth and clear .

I'm not from Albania, but I do live in a 3rd world country.
Exactly, people don't believe in paying with credit card, therefore they use the old fashioned hand-to-hand method. It works well thus far.

Like I said, I have good ideas in general and the prices are worth the product. Just need some pointers for the start-up.
Currently just looking at promotions and whatnot, trying to grow my page (even though I will be "leaking" money. I want to do this long term.)

Beginin will be slow unless you have a killer product or lots of bucks to spend on promoting your page. Try to go as organic as possible.

Well, the beginning will surely be slow. However, the products I sell are lower or the same price as aliexpress/ebay, with the exception that you get your items within 3 days.

I'm not from Argentina, and I don't believe you can receive private messages yet. I'm interested in seeing what you've got, though.
I'm @Martin238 on Telegram. Feel free to send me a DM there.

populate your website with products first, then promote it with facebook ads

The following are links to free courses on facebook marketing provided by facebook itself. I believe you will find them useful :

The link below is a low cost course on Udemy for facebook marketing :

Good luck.
Thank you. I will look into some free ones just to get the gist of it. However, I might go for a paid one.
Good idea!

For whomever is curious, I started this venture and it went well (not yet certain which ads convert the best, so leaking a bit of money there, but will be solved in the future.)

Sold over 20 items in 5+ days and now the conversions are slowing down due to everyone being quarantined.
