Starting a new journey usng 7878's method

And now, I'll target other niches.

Take a look at industries that spend a whole bunch of money on advertising... an old advertising adage is:

"Those who advertise, advertise."

So you would be well served by looking at the industries that not only advertise but those that spend lots and lots of money on advertising as what you are doing is an off shoot of common advertising. Those are the kinds of companies that will spend real dollars with you.

Who are the guys that advertise in your newspapers everyday with large ads? Who buys billboards? Who puts ads on the sides of buses?

Target those that spend big dollars on local advertising and you will end up making decent cash at your venture. You want big ballers because those are the guys that will write you the bigger checks.

Isn't it a bit too early to contact very big corps having no real references. I don't think big firms would pay for ads without any qualifications. How can I contact them having no references ? Plus the fact that often the firms that advertise have good reviews online. (I had looked at local businesses that advertise in local newspaper and their rate was pretty good ~4-5)

Found this which might be a help to find some industries that spend the most on Advertising. Just
for ideas ;)

Just to be safe, it wouldn't hurt to have a few positive testimonials from your clients to use as
a reference for contacting bigger companies. It's the necessary step I will take to ensure I don't
run into a problem when trying to close a $xxxx/m deal. Keep it up, your doing great :)

I just thought I would share a possible idea. Being of a young age and cannot start ORM that successfully yet ( I'm gonna spend some time collecting knowledge from forums etc until I reach a decent age ) In my opinion many business owners should know many other business owners in different niches or even in the same niche. Even family members, cousins etc have a possibility of being a business owner. After you close the 1st client call them back and tell them that if they refer someone to you that has a business and could use ORM that you will give them a percantage off like 10% of the monthly cost IF the person that they refered becomes your client. Basically you have a possibility that your clients will find other clients for you without doing much work. You can even include this in the beginning and add it to the contract. I hope this could be helpful in some sort of way.

Also one thing I noticed at a restaurant is that the owner put his business card near the checkout and he owns 3 restaurants. You can offer to manage all his restaurants etc so basically what I'm saying is it would be of higher value sending a mail to a resturant owner that owns many restaurants then just one.

Lastly I noticed many people having a higher conversation rate by having a person impact. Say you liked something colorful about the restaurant or a certain meal etc. This shows ur not some spammy person trying to sell them something but your interested in helping them improve their business. And this could also become helpful in meetings showing that you have a interest in their business and not some dude who randomly mailed 30 other restaurants ( even though you will :p )

I'm still a newbie with no experience in ORM yet so please don't flame me if these ideas won't work.

Yes, my aunt owns an hostel (in fact it's not an hostel but 4 rooms but i don't know how to translate that in english :/ )and I talk to her about it but she wasn't that excited. I guess it's because it won't be that good for her because of the very few clients she has. But definitely, if I knew some relations who owned a local business, I would use them. But I don't.

How would you know he owns many restaurants without going there ?

I totally agree with you. I tried this for some letters. Got one call back but no news since then. And he asked me what meal I ordered.
Also, a problem I can point out is that it would pretty hard to call the restaurants after this mail. Except you have an idea of how we could call them back ?

How would you know he owns many restaurants without going there ?

Easy. Look at the copyright on the bottom of websites, look at Manta, search for the CEO/President/owner on Google, etc. These will all give you clues as to who owns what.

you shouldn't need references for ORM.. just state that you sign a non disclosure agreement with each client you work with and how important that is based on the type of job you're doing. tell them you take confidentiality VERY seriously and just like you would never talk to them about past clients you would also never talk about them to your other clients.

assure them you've worked with some of the most well established businesses in your area and helped them increase their profits by improving their reputation.

you need to have a fucking powerful counter to every argument they have. if not you're losing clients.

fake it till you make it.

Hostel do you mean hotel by chance? Haha I think hostel = hotel in Spanish but I'm not so sure. Anyways I'm glad I've been helpful but you can say something like this

" Hey are you the owner of xxxxxx, I loved your meal called xxxxxx and it was so delicious. I then looked at your review listing and noticed you had a poor rating on google. I went home and sent you a letter on how you can improve those ratings and how your delicious food is not being shown effectively in the online world. Your losing lots of new customers due to your bad online reputation that your not even noticing, and a good online reputation will cause customers to come to your restaurant because of how your customers rate it and this is mass amounts of profit that I want to help your business succeed and share your food with a larger amount of people" sorry if its bad but somthing i typed in a min, you get the idea. You just want to make him WANT it. And show how much it can IMPROVE his business. This will help you close clients faster, easier, and more effectively

then if they say they haven't read it, tell them to read it and schedule another call or tell them to call back after their done reading it

I'm so excited to get into ORM. But if I started ORM now at my age no one will trust me or even take notice of me. Hopefully I can help you succeed :)

Well, when I said hostel, I meant a kind of bed and breakfast. Small hotels.
That's what I told them (about references) when they ask me about my references. Often, it's okay for them but I won't feel confident about selling expensive things without having references.

Trust me as long as you look confident people WILL believe you. Add a strict policy about referencing your work and give them a serious feeling of how you take this confidentiality. As long as you look believable people will believe you. If there shaky about not trusting someone with no previous tell then that they will lose out on potential clients and your only taking 1 resturant in your area ( of course your taking all of them ). This will help them make a decision on the spot because they do not want their competitors to get their potential customers. Remember always be proactive and think on how to make them WANT it. Biggest point I can say over and over that is needed to close clients easier.

I'm searching for a kind of booklet that I could give to the woman of the restaurant. If someone has one, I would be very thankful if you could PM it to me :) Otherwise, I will do it myself (via fiverr :) ) and post it here :)

I could be interested. Where can I find it ?

Edit : In fact, I found some examples on graphicriver. Will have to modify them a bit and especially to translate them...

I'm eagerly awaiting an update. I am very inspired by your journey and want you to succeed.

His email might appear in DNS records over and over again. Look at something like BlackMaps that will pull those local results and merge in the WHOIS data. Out of that you can distill 2 things, owners who have lots of businesses in a market. You can also see lots of trends with the technical contact emails (who set up their website, if some company set them all up, etc...), though I can't see the same relevance to ORM.

Maybe if you know someone manages domains for 20 restaurants in town, get to know that person.. then you have a familiar person/something in common/established trust with all the people you'll be approaching. Hell, if it goes good maybe you could even fish for referrals.

Update : I didn't have a lot of time to work on my ORM project last week but I will work on it this week for sure. Tomorrow, I should have a 2nd meeting with a client but I will have to reschedule it as I'm not prepared at all (I know, it's not serious at all...)

Update : As I have some medical issues now, I don't have much time to work on this ORM project. However, I had 3 calls yesterday but I don't know from where they come as I haven't sent letters for 1 month :/
Also something fun : now, when I walk in Paris, I often see some restaurants that I have mailed :) I'm still wondering whether I should enter the restaurant in that case and say " Hey, I'm the guy who sent you the letter. Can we talk ? "

I hope you get your medical issues sorted out. If they were companies that called you then I think it would be a good idea to go in and have a chat.

As agreed by multiple users who replied to your thread, it seems like you have a successful journey with high responses rate. What you've proven is that the direct-mailing works well in your country and business owners are interested.

However, it's a shame that you lack of the time to close or follow up (which is understandable, since you are working during the day). Have you consider partnering with someone locally and grow this? There is no reason to let these opportunities slip away considering efforts have already been applied.
