Hi friends,

I have installed SSL and done 301 redirected from http to https. Its working good.

Now i am thinking about deleting webmaster account for http and creating new one for https. Any recommendation or advise please.

Thanks in advance.

WMT says you should use "Add A Site" to add the www, non-www and HTTPS versions of the site. It annoys me as it's not very tidy but it's what they instruct you to do.

Hi Mr.Jack,

Thanks for your response. In my site xyz.com , http://www.xyz.com, http://www.xyz.com all are redirected to https://www.xyz.com

Still i need to add three versions in WMT or only new one for HTTPS is enough?

WMT told me to add all three versions, when I tried setting www as my preferred Google display domain it told me to add and verify the non-www version (and HTTPS version if it exists) even though it's 301 redirected.

Not sure why you'd need 3 versions if all are pointing to the same site.

On a related note, does anyone know if 301 redirecting to https hurts SEO when all backlinks are pointing to the http url?

just add additional https in wmt, you will notice the http indexing slowly drop and https moving upwards

I am also looking for an answer to this.

All my links are pointing at http version but google seems to be indexing https version only of my site.

Not sure what to do now with this?

yes, you may select which version you preferred inside http / https

And regards links pointing to http version? Will they redirect as normal also?

I'm also considering switch to https.
Can anyone who have done this, post his 1st hand experience in terms of SERP before and after the switch.

you will be experiencing losing 10% of the juice from 301 redirect

I added https site in WMT. shall i remove the http site?
