Hey Xenesthad, I think I know your problem. I don't think your affiliate link is correct. You do not take the entire piece of HTML or else it will not be clickable. Find the section of the code that starts with h**p:// and highlight the hyperlink. Then put it in bit.ly form and paste it. That should work.

My second day I had 18 clicks with no purchases and my third day I have had 3 clicks. I'm not having much more luck today, however I did get like 9 reblogs with a couple of photos.

I noticed that re-blogging a photo will only get you so far as most of the time people have seen it already. In order to be reblogged you have to post unique images. Find them elsewhere online and then post them and you will have a better re-blog rate.

Right now I'm still trying to figure out how to get more interaction. I am going to try the method of adding popular keywords and asking followers to caption the photos (I have 50 followers on my first blog and like 12 on my second). keep in mind these are both within 3-4 days old.

I have infact cleared this up not longer after posting that haha but i did have the right link because like i said i was simply taking the URL out of the HTMl they gave me. It was just taking a while to show up. I actually got 29 clicks last night. Also i haven't been reblogging at all. I've just been finding decent images and post and then queueing them up to post for me at certain times of days, some of them have had 300+ reblogs already which is great. To get more followers try a site like tumblrtrain or similar because they are low quality but they have a lot of followers so you can get more and more exponentially. the interaction is an interesting idea though but i worry that doing that might cause them to look closer at what they are reblogging and take out the affiliate links. Also instead of using tinyurl im using a link to a page on the tumbr which is set to redirect to my affiliate link which means it looks like an internal link because sometimes i find people are put off by url shortened links. So try that it might just boost the clicks.

Yeah, I think I'll spend some time getting many quality pictures from my niches at one time. Then I can go maybe 2-3 days with posts at certain intervals without spending much time. That will make this a lot more scale-able

EDIT: I am wondering if the bit.ly link is putting off a lot of potential clickers. I wonder if cloaking might be a good idea for this type of affiliate. Right now I have two blogs and a combined 60-70 followers, but I'm not even getting clicks, which makes it nearly impossible to monetize with cookie drops.

This is an amazing method. I have also made 1k reblog within hours plus 100+ followers. But it's adult content. How do you think I can monetize the blog? Thank in advance.

Yeah, if you search for tags relating to your niches you can normally scrape a decent amount of content to use. I normally spend maybe 20 minutes a day just finding 8-10 images and queueing them up for posting later on. At the moment I'm experimenting with different posting times to determine the most effective time to post them and I shall post the results if I get something definitive.

I had a suspicion that a bit.ly or tinyurl link was having a detrimental affect on my click through which is why I decided to cloak my links myself. What I did was create a page on the tumblr which redirects to my affiliate link. Then I add the link to that page within all the images I post. I'm waiting for Amazon US to update so I can see how last nights posts did but the 8 images got around 400 reblogs in total which isn't bad.

I'm thinking of starting a second blog for another niche closely related to the niche of my first blog because then I may be able to share some of the content. Might also start an adult one if this proves fruitful because I think the posts will spread like wildfire if I can get good content. However with an adult blog I think I'd need a different method of monetisation unless I promote sex tip books on Amazon

That is very good going. How did you go about obtaining that amount of followers so quickly? As I spoke about above, you could maybe use some Amazon sex tip products that way you can still drop the cookies and they may buy other unrelated products instead which you can still profit from. Your other option i guess would be some form of adult CPA network perhaps, not sure if they allow this kind of thing though as I have not yet dabbled into the area of CPA.

How many reblogs did you get? And sometimes Amazon can be slow to update, I'm still waiting to find out how well i did last night. But i guess that depends on which regional version of Amazon you are using. Also if you have only been doing it a day you can't expect instant results.

So just a clarification. The big success comes from reblogging other peoples' stuff, or does it come from finding own stuff and UL'ing it to Tumblr?

You can reblog other peoples stuff and you may get some success with that but i wouldn't advise it myself.
I find my own content and believe me there is tonnes of it and then upload it yourself that way it all leads back to your blog

Same, reblogging is just an easier way to get started with tumblr.

This is very true. And don't get discouraged if you don't see results right away. If you don't abuse tumblr by posting hundreds of crap pictures each day, your blog should stay alive forever, and you never know when someone will reblog it to their 10,000 followers and start a viral reaction. Also, some niches have higher click through rates then others, and some niches will do better in sales etc.

Its all about testing.

I posted lots of adult pics and followed some people. as what the OP mentioned, tumblr pics can spread like a virus and many people will follow you, if you post the things they like. Thanks for the tip! I looked at all my followers and all almost all of them are teens. I hope this works. I'm thinking i can put some banner ads in my tumblr blog. More power to you!

I have never used Tumblr before but this looks promising. I guess I will try it with CPA.

I wouldn't recommend CPA to start. Things don't initially convert well, so it is more profitable to cookie drop instead.

Yeah i believe most of mine are teens as well, but i guess thats because most of the tumblr demographic is made up of teenagers taking black and white photos of rain because they are "deep" lol. Banner ads is an interesting idea, i'm not sure whether tumblr allow that though and you might be asking to get banned if you put them up.

I'll put it on here so others can do it as well.

1. Go to your blog dashboard and click customise appearance.

2. On the customisation screen that appears there is a panel on the left (or there is with the theme i use I'm not sure if it differs from theme to theme.) if you scroll down you should see a link for pages, click that.

3. Click add a page, on the menu there you be a drop down box, change it from standard layout to redirect. Give the URL a sensible name relating to your niche e.g blogname.tumblr.com/niche, insert the URL you want it to redirect to, i.e your affiliate link, i think i put a second layer of cloaking and put a tinyurl for my aff link here but that's not necessary. Then give the link a name, that's what it will appear as on the blog homepage. (this also helps because it's yet another way to get click throughs from the homepage of the blog).

4. Now when you are making your posts, put the URL that you made with the redirect page e.g blogname.tumblr.com/niche as the source for all your photos and it will automatically become the click through. Now when they hover over it will appear to be an internal link to another page on the same tumblr.

Hope this helps anyone that was looking to do that.

Great method. I got it to work and I'm doing it now.

Another trip from one of our very own - resize images for your blog to be big enough to see, but small enough that people want to see it bigger.

After a few days of lackluster performance, we'll see how these changes do.

Trying to engage readers with captions did not work for me (small test, but still).

Unique content REALLY helped me. I went from 2 reblogs with ~ 45-50 photos to 12 reblogs with 2 photos. Big difference. Now that the links are cloaked, perhaps it will be useful.

I think my other blog (food pictures) is kind of saturated. I might start an adult blog, but I've got a couple aces up my sleeve for them so hopefully they end up working well.

That is an interesting idea, i may look into that.

Here is my little update, i attempted to post the images at the optimum time for US audiences but it seems that it only maybe increased the reblogging by around 2-3% so i may stick to have i was doing it before because it was a nightmare to queue them up for a different time zone because tumblr wouldn't let me stagger the queue over two days properly.

Last night i posted 8 images as usually and in total they were reblogged just under 400 times which is great. The blog itself now has nearly 400 followers.
A tip is when you see someone reblog your post, and if you keep an eye on the dashboard you will, go on their page and follow them. It shows they are interested in your blog if they are reblogging stuff and if you follow them they are very likely to follow back almost immediately.
As for the Amazon side of things, well ive had that connected up for 3 days now and ive received 175 clicks but no sales as yet. I think it may be due to the product that i'm linking too. The product is a book based around the niche that i'm using but i'm not sure people are very receptive to it. Has anyone got any ideas for a product, doesn't matter if it's relatively generic, that i can use that might keep their attention longer, at least long enough to find it interesting or to browse for other things? I feel this might raise my conversion rate and get me my first sales.

If any people are reading this and wanting to give it a go, but struggling to find a good niche to promote. Think about this.
Look through some of the more popular tags and see the kinds of posts and have been reblogged the most. You will begin to notice themes within them and if you find enough of a pattern within the popular posts you will be able to make a valuable niche and will also have a wealth of rebloggable content.

Incase you are still struggling, here are a few ideas for you that may work well.

• Relationship Break Ups
• Depression (it might sound odd but there are a lot of depressing posts on there)
• Adult (Simply find some kinds of artsy, sepia instagram pr0n and voila)
• Funny Gifs (these work well because they attract attention through the movement)
• Memes
• Controverisal Topics (If you piss a few people off you will get them talking)

I'm sure it's not hard to think of more using the method i stated above but that's just what i had on the top of my head based on observation i've made using this method.

Another quick tip, and something i've just come up with, is instead of linking to one product, you the amazon search to search for listmania lists related to your niche, these will contain lists of up to 25 products. I think this will work great for some niches because you get to display multiple products. For example say you were targeting a love niche then you could link to a list of valentines day gifts, since it's coming up very soon and people will be looking for stuff to buy for their partner. Just a thought, i'm gonna try it with my niche and see what happens.

Hang in there bro, i haven't made a single penny with it yet either, but i sense that i'm getting close to that break through. Also something else that occurred to me is that using the URL cloaking i talked about before, it allows you to change where the page redirect to, this means that even older posts will still go to the new location, it might get a few extra clicks if you decide to change product.

One other thing, is when you do get reblogs, look on their pages and see if you can find any common themes, if there is then you may be able to target a sub niche of your niche for certain posts. I've just started doing this also and i think it's going to have a pretty good affect.
