Received a nice pdf file from a friend and wanted to share some important things I've taken from the article on Facebooks new algorithm... 1. Marketing keywords carry negative weight. Free, sign up, email, discount, buy, purchase, and similar words signal direct advertisements or links to external content. 2. Clickbait content, which contains a series of keyword phrases, has negative weight. 3. Using third party services is debatable. A report reviewed over 122,000 posts made from third party services using prescheduled content, automation, and connected services and found over 83% of that content performed less than similar content that did not use a third party service. 4. Reactions will play an important factor in news feed reach. Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad, and Angry are the reactions. 5. Posting frequency is overly weighted by individuals. This is a matter of quality over quantity. Posting once an hour from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm will not increase the chances of all fourteen posts being seen; instead it only one or two of those posts will gain a lot of attention while the others will not. 6. Post time is less relevant than before. When people are the busiest, usually between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm, only a limited number of posts will be seen and the more competition there is (from people posting during a high traffic time) the less likely it is content will be seen.
