It would be better if you have specified which social media sites. The question you put is really broad so i hard to answer but if possible just ask about which social media and how you want them to get grabbed. By title, by duration, by published date, by quality and so on.....

Alright, i want to scrape and download viral videos primarily from fb and ig.
If possible i want to be able to sort them out by how many likes, shares, date of publication.

I think that wgat you need is an application software that can download videos from facebook and other social media sites if I am not wrong. I wil recommend just that. To find out the date they were published or how many likkes thay have then you will have to manually check. It is quite simple, what you do is login to facebook through the app. It is actually a youtube diwnloader but also includes social media sites. I has an inbuilt browser that you use to access any of the social media sites. Because all of those sites are restricted you have to log in first to download your videos. Go to the videos section ifit is on facebook. The video willbegin playing automatically and at the bittom of every video is a download icon. Just click on the icon and you will be prompted to choose a video resoultion that best suits your needs. It is that simple, no extra things. It works on all social media sites and even normal weppages with video. The software is for mobile phones only and it is called snaptube. Search for it on google but not playstore. Youtube downloaders are not allowed on playstore.
