The $50 is a one time payment plus includes free updates and a lifetime license. As you can see from the changelog I have been constantly updating and enhancing the software. I have a lot of users using it and are very happy although a lot of people don't leave public reviews do remain anonymous. However, I can send you some feedback that has been sent to me from some clients I speak to that regularly use the software.
Here is one discussion from a client:

Yeah you should be fine running it on a VPS with those specs. You can also see the requirements on the product page.
