Hi BHW,

I really need some help here, I've been giving the task to be a social media manager for a start up SEO company, but because they have just recently introduced social media as one of their services, they are not really clued up on how the day should be spent or even build up a following -_-.

I really want to know how social media managers go about their day in terms of social media. Is there a template for social media managing?.Certain social platform that "have" to be used even if the client hasn't got that social platform yet?. Do you give some form of document to be filled in?.. I've been reading on some books and guidelines, specially "moz-beginners guide to social media" but it doesn't really help me.

Really need some help and would be great to talk to some social media managers aswel.

P.S Mods sorry if this is in the wrong section to post on.

I think a paid vpn service is essential to manage multiple social media account.

Hi Ya BeSupreme,

I would start with planning with a SWOT analysis and/or a plan of what your going to say and how to go about it. I created a slideshow with a plan i made for a client

and thats what i start with 1st.

Because there are so many tools, it comes down to individual preference and budget. If you look at this infographic, at the bottom it gives you a kind of reference of what tools do what;

I use Hootsuite, OnlyWire, Leadamo, Klout and Viral Content Buzz
I have some Guides on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest that i give my clients if there doing it themselves, just message me and i'll give you the links. They have comprehensive planning tools and checklists.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply and tip. If I get a paid vpn what would it help me with?. Would it be so that each social account has its on IP?. I've been given about 7 accounts to handle and get in gear with social media managing so tips are really helpful.thanks :)

Hi 4contactuk,

Just PM'd you. thanks for you help, i'll take a look at your guides :D

The best way to work out what to do in situations like this is email/phone some of your competitors posing as a potential client saying you want them to manage your social media and ask them exactly what they can do for you, how much it will cost etc.

Once you know what the competition is, you can then just copy them or ideally make some twists and add some things to do a better job than them.

Hey thanks for the idea. I did also think of that to, but the problem is if you give out the clients name they may phone back and that would cause problems with the client.

It works better if the goals of social media management are well defined. The first step is probably to build a large follower base on all social media platforms. Some tools are helpful, but it's gona be a lot of works.
