    Hi all,

Wanted to get peoples thoughts and ideas on the best way to approach this situation. Let's say I only have a few hours a month to spend on SEO but the website in question is in a competitive niche. We're talking Finance / mortgages.

I'm starting to think link building could be a waste of my time considering in 6 or so hours of a month there is only so many high quality links I could build. With such few hours a month, what would people recommend as good ways to drive potential customers to the site? there is potentially a bit of budget to play with here (maybe £50 or so a month).

    Cheers!

PPC. Try adwords/bing/facebook or any other networks that allow PPC in that niche. That is your only way.

No, this is not a joke. I'm trying to brainstorm some creative ways to get some potential leads on a small time budget. I'm not expecting thousands of visitors a day, just seeing the best way to spend the limited time I do have.

He wants to spend his £50 per month. I am giving him ideas.. If he wants to spend it all on 5-6 clicks on adwords that's on him. I am trying to help the man find ideas.

For the record, i'm targetting a localised area and localised keywords so £50 a month on PPC will go further than you think.

Like I say, i'm just after creative ideas, and i'm not after huge amounts of traffic or conversions, a single conversion a month would easily cover the SEO budget.

    Thanks

People tend to invest 1000s just to do their testing, especially in the big niches. I very much doubt investing £50 a month in finance and mortgages would get anyone anywhere.

Try a variety of social media processes. You can target that localized area in all probability and the cost would be minimal.

£50 a month on any PPC won't give you enough of a testing ground to see if that is really going to work for you or not in all probability although you could hit it spot on perfectly and get a great bang for you £.

It is BS that you won't find high quality backlinks for free. I have been doing it and I am usually guest posting on personal finance blogs.

Yes you can. I have my very own author profile on investing.com, thestreet.com, stockdesk.com, wired.com, fool.com & seekingalpha.com .. So technically I don't pay for links from these sites

Doesn't have time or budget, and wants to rank in finance/mortgage space. Sounds like a winning combination.

If you don't have the necessary time or budget to go after this niche don't do it.

Your much better off going after something you know you can rank then to go into something you cant handle right now.

Ok, I appreciate all the responses, including the sarcastic ones.

SEO seems like it could be a big waste of time, I'll target social media in the local area for now.

    Thanks
