small optimized pure html/css template for news magazine type site?

Could someone suggest a good pure html/css template for a news site that is optimized for fast loading and rendering?

I bought a popular WP theme that looks really good but the size is the same over mobile, there have been no media query optimizations on the images.

converting this theme to pure html for use in another non WP system is going to be a lot of work.

even then you will have to optimize the images separately.

Anyway I would also be intersted in the answer to your question.

I have an automated image processing server I build that can automatically creation of all size variations of each image needed. I also have a system to automate generation of the css media rules for unique images.

a solid template is all I need at this point to incorporate it into.

I think I may use something like bourbon. They are right in the middle of a version change, so all their examples do not work. I tested their old examples and I could get a decent layout in under 5kb of compressed css

Why dont you order someone on market place to make it for you? You can try theme forest.. Last night i saw exactly what you are looking for.
