The trouble is, you guys didn't pay attention to the changes back in late February. What's been happening? A lot of "authority" sites with link budgets in the $10k/mth range in several of my niches thought "oh we're safe" as did a lot of people on this forum.
You didn't pay attention to what was happening and why, nor did you research how all of these terrible sites started ranking up.
I know exactly what is working again, after much analysis, and it's stupid indeed what google has done for overall search quality. However, my sites are steadily recovering, I opened up 50 domains to target various keywords individually and they're all ranking.
Start analyzing and stop complaining. The biggest niches in finance/health etc are all running slash and burn campaigns on domains and ranking them for 2-3 months to drive leads... there's a reason for this... there are no authority sites left, so modify your techniques accordingly.
If you think there's some SEO technique you just need to unlock to create a site that stably is #1 on a $100k/mth term, you're wrong. There's nothing that works in this capacity anymore... modify and move on... target different markets and different engines.
Back in Feb the changes google made actually made me realize that several huge terms I go after have 80% of their google traffic, but in bing/yahoo. My site was already ranking #17 over there, so I pushed it the rest of the way to the top 5...
Keep going, look at what works, and exploit the system to drive revenue...
