I use the normal Yoast SEO plugin for my sitemap but with my last 2 posts, Google Webmaster Tools is showing that it takes over a week just to see my new post url "submitted" then it gets indexed shortly after. When I first made the site, new posts/pages seemed to get submitted within 1-2 days. Why would it take over 1 week to submit now?

When I last submitted my website, I also found that it was slow to submit, but after about a week most of my URLs were indexed. I'm not sure why the time varies, but all that's important to me is that the pages get indexed.

Yeah it may be because when I started the site I was constantly adding content and then slowed down a little. It just got submitted after about 5 days and typically Google will then index it after 1-2. Just curious what other people's experience was with that.

GWT shows 2 to 7 days delayed data, it's meant as a general guide, no more than that. Backlinks are often delayed for months.

Actually, it sounds like website activity could play a part as I wasn't updating my website as frequently with that last sitemap submit. After all, the web crawler does crawl your website more frequently when it finds fresh content.
