Site Flipping 101

meathead or any one else...I have my first site listed on flippa right now, Will you take a look at it and tell me why i havent gotten any bids and what i can do/change to get folks bidding? http://flippa.com/auctions/90401/Hunting-Niche-Blog-with-eBook-Unique-theme-with-revenue Thanks

Hey Tommy,

Wouldn't recommend putting live auctions up here - never know what people may do.

Hit me up on MSN: [email protected] and I'll give you some pointers.

Ok, thanks for the advise.. Im sending a e-mail right now to that address. I dont have msn messenger if that is what your talking about.

Replied to your email. Most of my tips were outlined in my OP. The main thing I would recommend doing with ANY listing is featuring on the front page.

thanks.. If i do an up grade before my auction runs out can I extend my auction? If not then Ill re list in a day with the featured listing.

Tommy have you sold on Flippa before? I see you have a +4 rating were those for previous sales? If so, were they brand new sites or older more mature ones?

Good luck on your sale.

Nope. this was my first listing. I guess ill relist in a couple hrs with the featured option. hopefully it will get more than 40 views

Re-listing is going to cost you another 19$ + the feature listing price. . . You think that it's worth it?

meathead it seems like the last couple of weeks the amount of views have dropped signicfantly according to some threads on IM forums.

Have you experienced this also?

I've had a shocking 2 weeks on Flippa. Could be my first time an auction hasn't sold.

Also had 3 non-paying bidders in a row. Expensive and time-consuming to say the least!

I don't think it's the views that have slowed, just the number of active bidders - I'm putting it down to the Easter break, but never know.

Yeah also my guess, but I hope it will pick up soon I am getting ready to list a site soon. Depends on how long graphics will take to create.

I had one person currently is still not paying me, I don't know what is happening. The site was sold on March 22, 2010. Payment is now processing via Escrow ever since that date, but Escrow are still waiting to secure the payment from buyer. (What the heck is happening, took so long to secure it! Like before, it only took me 1 day! Geeezzzz!)

PMed the person, 2 days ago, I can see he opened the PM. But still with no reply, I hate to call it a dispute as the payment at Escrow is still on progress. And I have to pay another $29 to relist on featured.

The person is with 70% feedback, seems I made a mistake by accepting his bid. But yet I still can't fully judge him, I will wait for his reply in next few days.

What do you guys think? Should I cancel the payment at Escrow and report this on Flippa if the guy still not showing up?

Thanks!

If the site was sold on march 22nd you definitely have a problem. If I were you I would cut my losses and re-list (if you believe you have the ability to sell the site again). He's not going to pay.

Thanks for the heads up, I will send him another PM. If he still avoid my PM, I'll report to flippa and dispute the sale. Geezzz, I've already paid for the success fee too.

It's kinda weird that it took so long for just to secure the payment at escrow, I had a feeling that his bank account has zero cash inside it. Will try again PMing him.

BTW, how to cancel the process at Escrow?

P.s: Take my lessons guys, never trust person that newly registered at flippa and have some negative feedback. If you are going to deal with them, ask them properly via PM, make a good deal before you accept his/her bid. A contract should be a good choice or ask for upfront payment. (To ask for upfront, you have to include this on your listing, I've talked to flippa's support).

Thanks!

Yikes! This guy is currently being suspended just before I made a dispute on my listing! I hope flippa will permanently ban this user!

My $29 for featured is wasted! Curse him!

How did you get on with this in the end mate?

hi meethead,

I watched your thread a lot..
thanks to you, I'm no go into this business..

I really need money quickly, but I only have this site..

http://w3.panicattacksdriving.n3t

rank page 2 on google for keyword "panic attacks driving" but no traffic :(
it supposed to have around 5000 global monthly visitor according google keyword tool

can I sell it for money on flippa?? I'm really desperate right now, I need a confidence wether this site will sell on flippa..

Many Thanks,
jibond

You're on page 2 mate .. at least on Google USA. Also, the search volume is only 1,000 a months if you do a phrase/exact match.

Anyway - none of this is actually relevant because basically you're selling a site that has no traffic, no revenue, no potential (1,000 visits a month is nothing even if you'd be able to grab them ALL - which is not going to happen even on the #1 spot), no design.

I'm sorry to be so frank but realistically - I don't see the site's final bid ever covering the listing fees. You might get a $10 or $20 out of it on DP if you find the right buyer but that's about it.
