One biggest advantage is their speed. Premium spinning tool get lot of articles in few seconds. And cost is inexpensive.
Disadvantage is spun content is down your site reputaion. And there is danger in Google stepping on your website.

Google always prefers for handwritten contents. You can use spinned contents only for Tier2.
