If the domain was not picked up or spammed after expiration, it might still retain some SEO value. But in Google's eyes, it could be treated as new. Worth checking its backlink profile and wayback history before rebuying.
If your domain had backlink and visitor, then It will valuable for you. If not, then not to purchase that domain, because it would not be worthy for you!
Recovering an old domain can be a smart move if it has existing backlinks, traffic, or brand value. Ensure it's not penalized or blacklisted before reuse.
Yeah, I was actually in a similar situation a while back. Had a domain that I let expire just because I got busy with other projects and life got in the way. At first, I thought grabbing it again would help since it had some age—but turns out, once it fully expires, Google pretty much resets everything. Unless the domain still had strong backlinks or some traffic trickling in, it felt like starting from scratch.
I guess the only reason I'd consider picking up an old domain again is if it had some real brand value or solid links that are still live. Otherwise, better to just move forward with a fresh one and focus on good content and link building from the start.
