Should I just quit?

For the past 5 or so years on and off I have been trying to make money online instead of going out and getting a job. I only need about $300-$400 a month because I live with my parents.
About 3 years I started making money and I made about $500-$600 in PayPal. Eventually I got addicted to reading DP and stuff like that and I had to take a break because I started doing bad at school.
I started buying stuff with my PayPal money and now it is down to about $150.

For the past year I have been trying again and again to get back into making money online through IM or offering services and stuff but I always seem to fail. I bought Ebooks(big help... not), read so many threads here, bought services from BHW that promised that I would be able to make some money.
I tried autoblogs and a few things which aren't allowed to be talked about here. I got subscriptions to IM forums and tried affiliate marketing and CPA and many other things...

I usually spend a few hours a day trying to do some work. I don't work like I would at a normal job like 8 hours straight and stuff like that.

I am starting to wonder if I should just quit and realize that I just don't have what it takes.

Maybe I should just quit and go get a job at McDonalds or something... That would be some definite money instead of me throwing away money on worthless site and domains that I will never make me my money back...

Anyways I don't even know if anyone will even read this but if you do maybe you could give me a pep talk. I sure need it...

First of all I applaud you for your honesty and applaud you for really trying hard for a long time. One thing I will say is, making money online is not easy, it takes time, HARD WORK, and most importantly..Patience.

If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. If you live in a city or near a city you will notice during rush hour traffic times it's always bottlenecked bumper to bumper. The point I'm trying to make is, if it were easy to make a "Living" on the internet, I'll gurantee you, that rush hour traffic would be gone in a New York minute.

The problem with working from home online IM, most people assume they buy into something expecting huge paychecks with minimal to zero effort. That will never happen. There are no "Hidden Secrets". You have to find a niche you like and are comfortable with and doing it. And most of all: have fun doing it.

Don't give up yet. Take 1 to 3 hours daily reading this forum, and find something you like. start from scratch and work it in segments. Then put your focus on the money making part.

Best of luck.

Never give up get a job too if you need, you can use that money to help invest into your projects.

yep plz quit. internet moneuy is not for everybosdy. its hard work.

IM is just like any other career. doing it well requires skills that need to be developed over time through learning and implementing.

the reason you see other people making $xxx/day and you're not making anything, is because they've actually done the work necessary to develop their skills in this field, and you haven't. now, this fact would be blatantly obvious for any other career on the planet, but for some reason everyone thinks that IM is different, and that any idiot can just pick up a keyboard and start making money just like that.

if you read that in an ebook somewhere, well, they lied to you :\

that being said, your choice of career paths is the same it's always been. either put in the time and energy to develop your skills in this field, or take the lazy way out and get a job at mcdonalds. so which will it be?

i just think you need some good guidance spend your money on a teacher who can teach you how to make money. I will teach how to rank for 1,000 bucks

Okay, forget Fiverr or any method where you may have to promote your sites/gigs, the OP appears to not have the aptitude to build traffic. Go strictly with the writing site option I mentioned, which consists solely of writing 3-4 articles a day for 4-5 dollars each. Surely the OP can do that, and still wind up with $300-400 bucks a month.

Im gonna give you one tip that could make or break your IM career should you choose to continue it, so heed my advice if you wish to succeed. When you do finally start making money, you MUST re-invest it into your internet marketing in some way. I am a newbie internet marketer, and this is a mistake I made. I started in Nov 09 and have made around 8-10k since then all with CPA on short term methods that get shut down by facebook or no longer work. I pissed that money away since I got it in small amounts, and im back to square 1 with 0$ and no campaigns making money.

All is not hopeless, because I have been working hard at longer term methods that are showing alot of promise. But understand that had I taken the 3,000 I made in 1 week back in January and started a profitable PPC campaign, id prolly be making thousands daily right now. Use the money you make wisely. Even 10 or 20 dollars can go a long way. I bought a 2k xrumer blast from ixrumer a couple weeks ago for a measly 15$, and it has potential to make me thousands off SEO rankings. Just an example that there are many ways to spend money and help your marketing. Don't make that same mistake I and many others have. Reinvest your IM money to see your profits grow faster. Or don't see them grow at all.

I just remembered I used to write articles =D
Now where do I find customers?
One of my biggest problems is finding customers. I copied other websites in terms of content a few times and though they were making thousands I couldn't get a few dollars because they knew how to promote themselves and I didn't.

5 years is a long time span. Many ebooks are just rehash of the strategies that are already freely available. Try picking *one* method that you like and comfortable with and you are willing to dedicate at least one year to make it work. Many ebooks are quite useless but you have to be creative and add twists to them to make them work. Create a goal and define a plan in how you will achieve that goal. Start with something that is realistic and achievable. IM can be very rewarding but it takes a lot of hard work and commitment in the beginning. It may not be a 9 - 5 type of job but it does take time, effort and commitment to make it work. There will always be new methods and systems. The key is to focus and make consistent effort in working towards the goal you set. It can be just $1 / day with adsense or 2 sales / month for clickbank to start. Once you find something that works, scale from there.

Just join textbroker, the assignments are already waiting, no recruiting customers needed. Write 4 a day and you're set.

I earned my first bucks with bum marketing using clickbank. I can say that you can't get on the top without going through rough roads. You gotta make mistakes a lone because you're not going to learn them from anybody else.

There is about ten things that are wrong with your post, and they really underscore your thinking here.

  1. Who's going to get out of bed for the prospect of making $300/month? No one. Set your goals higher, or set non-monetary goals.
  2. Without at least $50 working capital, you are pretty much doomed.
  3. Get the job at McD's or wherever and do IM on nights and weekends, after class of course.
  4. Real business owners work 8-12+ hour days when they are starting out. The less capital you have, the more TIME you must invest.

I would give myself another 6 months maybe, or try Ericsson's offer and at the same time work like your next breath will depend on it. Read, learn and DO. If it doesn't work, time to call it quits and find a job.

Hey buddy

5 Years??, i have to admit, your a very tenacious person.

By all means, take a break, but don't give up. I myself took a break not long ago, so i know what your going through. I don't know you personally, or what you do daily, but you've got to realise, NOBODY IN THE WORLD WILL SELL YOU A WINNING LOTTERY TICKET, NO MATTER WHAT THE PRICE!!

Im sure like many people, you ended up buying every brand new "method" that was being advertised, and this goes for tools as well. Build a solid foundation to work upon, maybe grab a method from somewhere on the forum, and TWIST the fuck out of it. Put your own spin on it, out of everyone on the forum, id say look up yukanari.

That guy is an absolute gold mine for help and info.

^^^ I 2nd that about looking up all of Yukinari's past posts. The guy is sharp as a tack and has a lot of valueable methods and insights.

@ OP - It sounds like you need to kind of stop and think for a minute how important an independant online income is to you. I was in the same boat you are and just decided I would do whatever it took to NEVER have to work for anyone else again in my life.

Going in with that mindset made all the difference. Yes, I had to work my ass off and put in consistently long hours every day to make it happen - but you get to a point where you have multiple streams of automated income after awhile. It takes a lot more than 2 hours a day to achieve it though.

Start with one method here from the forum - work your ass of on it (and only it) daily for as long as it takes - then move to the next method.

It's cliche, but 100% true that most every method on this forum can make you money if you put your own little spin on it and dedicate yourself 10/12 or more hours a day to make it happen. Shit, I worked 18 hour days for months straight online because I truly wanted the independant income.

So can you

i quit AM a year ago after i stopped making six figures for 5 straight months, after i stopped i relaxed with my money and now its mostly gone lol, dont quit ever!
