Should I go to college to learn Web design/programing?

It really depends what are you learning for... I mean you want to make career out of it or just want it cause you are interested.
Yes, you can learn everything online but going to college has more advantages (from my point of view). You get chance to be in touch with different people with different views/ideas etc. Right now it may be just your interest but who knows you may want to make career in this later.

Remember:
- Manytime it takes a bit long time to learn something which you could have been taught simply in college.
- Going to college means live interaction...... Instant Answer of your query
- Person who teaches you in college generally share their experiences which is invaluable.

So... GO TO COLLEGE!!!!

BUT IF you have enough time...... Its just your interest right now..... You dont want to get into it professionally anytime soon... SAVE MONEY, LEARN ONLINE!!!

Getting a degree means you were willing to invest in yourself and that means a lot to an employer. I have two degrees but neither were in IT or IM where I have made my career and money yet my education gave me the background I need to do critical thinking.

You don't need college for web design/programming but you do need college to mature. For every success story about somebody becoming rich without college there are 1,000 others without college still flipping burgers.

Of course you should! i don't know how things work where you live but college/uni is always a good thing when it comes to a career..

It would be good if you could get some kind of apprenticeship/scholership with a good web design company..

I would say you should go to a college if they arent going to teach you what is HTML and all kind of theories , its history and stuff.

When you have a teacher, you always learn better given you have the mind onto the topic.

About programming, I am newbie into it, I bought an IDE, and started writing up some small stuffs, and I learned bits of Mysql , File Handling, Sessions etc. Easier than I thought.

Every now and then I get stuck at some point, I google, and comeup with a new php function. Hence, learning gets so easy since we know what we need and informations are at finger tips.

Ofcourse I had a bit knowledge about basics, that I read from a book, "PHP - The Complete Reference by Steven Holzner". That was really simple, but I learned more off Google.

W3schools, Tizag etc wont help you if you are going to read pages one by one. But when you get on them to look for a specific function, they are the best.
