Shared Hosting vs VPS vs Cloud Hosting difference

I understand that Shared hosting is needed for small blogs or landing pages. The number of visitors is not more than 100-200 thousand per month.

I also understand that VPS is needed for bigger projects. When you have a site with heavy videos and pictures. For example sites for adults. Where visitors can be a million a month.

Why do we need Cloud hostings and Dedicated servers ($500-1000 a month)? Can you give examples of projects for these hostings? How do I know that for my project I need cloud hosting and not VPS?

They are for big blogs with millions of visitors per day. For resource intensive apps(saas).

hosting uses CPU and RAM, and disk I/O.
on shared hosting, you can get around 50K to 60K daily unique visitors or even more if your sites, including wordpress sites, 30-40 plugins, are well optimized and you serve cached pages.

when you want to serve more dynamic pages, and have more u.v. daily, then probably vps is required. Here cpu and ram, though alloted to you is also shared with entire node. Say the node has 128GB RAM, and the host can throw 500 vps on with 2GB RAM each, as they know not every one is going to use 2GB ram 24 hours a day. Same goes for CPU core. Generally node come with 48 cores, but think, the web host still hosts 500 vps on it!

traffic volume is the white hat'metric lol most people moving to dedicated / cloud in this sub arent doing it because they have 1m visitors . they do it because their backend logic is heavy
