Hi Guys,

Google launched the a new update on September 15th and named "helpful content update" and the updated is completed on 28th September.

How's you sites performing before and after the update?

I lost more than 70% traffic on one of my main website which is 8 years old completely white hat and still showing no sign of recovering.

The sites has mostly informational blogs is there any advice to recover the traffic.

Anyone who lost the traffic and started regaining the traffic after the completion?

They don't care if you website is whitehat, blackhat or pinkhat.

It's a robot. Smart but still a robot.

You send the right signals, you rank.

Core updates and helpful content updates are (as the name suggests) about content.

Your website does not cover the topic well enough, expertise is not shown, or it's too expensive to serve.

Still continue to add new article reguraly. No matter what they say : CONTENT IS KING. Its why a visitor come to your site and come back again. Its like a magazine or tv show. You read or show it because you like the content. Ok google is a bitch. But last update i climb, the new i fall, what about the next one? i do website for my client, not for google AI.

You can wait one more week for things to totally settle.

200 in 3000 is a fraction to have any major impact. Keep at it and update the rest.

Analyze what works for top competitors and mimic that. Ideally make it even better.
  • formatting
  • headings
  • sentence structure
  • context
  • matching of search intent
But last update i climb, the new i fall, what about the next one?
That's a good point. You never win all updates.

The "Helpful Content Update" has nothing to do with your content so don't change anything. Just wait and see if your rankings slowly climbs back up while you update and posting new content. I've lost 70-80% traffic as well in this update and the websites ranking now in my niche are absolute garbage AI content that are posted on big news sites that are not even optimized to rank for those keywords. And all the new Google ads as well as Reddit and forum post ranking on first page makes no room for us with smaller websites even though they offer much better content.

Some of my rankings increased, others dropped. It is completely unstable. Even now, in some of my niches I am on #2 for desktop, but on #4 for mobile, then every day it keeps going up and down. Sometimes #6, sometimes #1.

A few years ago we could create websites with great content, build quality links and expect a certain result. You could even do churn n burn websites and you knew after a couple of months you will be Penguin or Panda updates. But now? Countless updates. Unless you are Wikipedia, Amazon or any other "trusted authority" websites, your income/rankings are in a constant risk.

You can wait for some more time. Also update the existing articles, keep publishing the new articles & promote them on social medias. Make sure that your on page structure is good. If needed build some high quality links.

Evry day I realize more and more that SEO is a waste of time and money.

Assholes made us to spend money on ads, that is the only way
It's so true....

Today, these Google updates no longer make sense when you look at the SERPS. A beautiful site with quality content finds itself far behind content from IA or reddit etc? Fuck google! we're bored of making strategies by listening to its recommendations so that it can screw us on the next update. And now that they're making one every 6 weeks, it's becoming unbearable.

You need to wait for shoot. Don't update the article fully. Wait for a while to settle down

I lost 30% traffic after update. Now, I published some guest post for rank again. Let's see what happened in next.

Its not about helpful content. I think that's just an excuse to rank and derank websites. Since garbage content ranks better after this update.
