SEO - where should I start

Hi,

Just starting getting into SEO, just doing it in my spare time and need to know where to start. The site I am targeting is just for a friend.

It has

- virtually no Google ranking

- has been active for 5 years

- has no generated back links

-no wordpress, twitter or facebook page. (but could make one)

Given a total blank page where would you start?


Should I buy links in the services are or get someone to look at my keywords.


Any suggestions very welcome.

Start with a strong keyword research, before putting effort into it the best thing is to give a direction to your seo effort, then optimize the page, then only start building backlinks

Things you should consider when you are a beginner seo

We divide Seo in two forms on site seo and off site seo "

On site mostly includes anchor links within pages " lets suppose you have a blog with 3 posts that is equal to 4 pages off which one is your homepage.You should Link your posts to homepage"just create a web of links where appropriate.

That works like a sitemap . The SE's find your backlinks and give you a bit of ranking .

2. The title of your post should be parallel to what your blog is all about.Thats perfection.
3.The post should contain relevant content to title.

Types of keywords:
1. Short tail = "money" Highly saturated on Se
2.Long tail = "money is a necessity" Maybe yes maybe not " but far less competition.

Make sure if your blog post is 100 words the keywords should fit in appropriate locations lets say throughout the post and should make sense should Not be gibberish.

Money is necessity should be 5 times in the post ... i-e 5%

Keyword density.

Keyword tools?. Use adwords its the best one out there for beginners .But should know insights of using it.

I personally use adwords estimator and google insights for trends.


Make sure You are always optimizing don't get DE motivated because that's where beginners have a hard time doing

Off site seo includes:
Link building to good page rank websites " those websites should also be relevant.To your content that is a plus.

Link building also can be quoted " as popularizing yourself to Se"

Keep writing posts daily optimize according

honestly you will get on the first place if you have a less saturated keyword.


There are far advanced things but these are the beginner level things your should consider

First try your hand at article submission. Article marketing is the best way to start SEO. It is also cost effective.
