SEO Questions....

Hi all,

I took a look at the source code of the theme I am considering installing on my Wordpress eCommerce site and it uses JavaScript at the top of the page. I have heard bad things about JavaScript and SEO...Does this mean that I should avoid this theme?

If this theme could work for me (ie. if it is already SEO friendly or could be changed to become SEO friendly), is there anything I can do to ensure the JavaScript does not adversely affect my rankings?

The theme I am considering is "Mazine" from Themeforest. If anyone could check it out and view the source and tell me what they think, I would really appreciate it as I am a coding newbie.

It's fine, don't worry about it. You'd do well to find a website without javascript on it. Not sure what you've read elsewhere but Themeforest themes are not going to cause you issues with SEO that's for sure

I just read an article that said that because search engine's spiders cannot/don't "see" the text within JavaScript tags they suggested that you create a separate file for all your JavaScript code and make it uncrawlable with a robots.txt file. This means that Google doesn't have to waste time scanning over all the JS code to find the actual html content.

I wasn't sure whether this was necessary or not. Also, do I need to move the JavaScript code to the bottom of the page or is it fine to leave it at the top of the file in the theme where the coder/programmer placed it?

I use the "SEO Ultimate plugin" which allows me to customize all the meta data anyways. I was just wondering whether that will allow me to override any unfriendly SEO in the WP theme's code or if their coding will take precedence in Google's eyes??

It's not anything to worry about. Spend your time driving traffic to your site. It has such a minimal impact with Themeforest that it's a waste of time even worrying about it. Optimize the on page and off site seo and build traffic.

Yeah, the above posters I concur with. You're not going to have any issues.

I get what you mean about G not crawling it and it hurting SEO but it but a spider only ignores sections that expressly tell it to

Google webmaster say that if your site is welly open after creating any language this site not affected any Position! So don't worried about it if your site i open properly.

have to agree. i have several customers sites that have it on them and they are ranked in the number 1 spot.

Dont worry.... javascript is not going to a big issue for your website..
