Some websites say it's not important anymore , others say it still is.

What do you think about it? Is writting your keywords in the HTML meta tag still important nowadays?

Hi, @RoyCooper. Meta keywords are not a ranking factor anymore. There are many articles that say the same. However, if you're using Yoast SEO, don't confuse "focus keyword" with "meta keyword."

Perhaps whatever sources that said meta keywords is still relevant is outdated already. If you read something about the meta keywords, try to check the blog post's date.

Yes meta is not important....that's why most G websites still use it.

Not bad if you use them but they would not be used to rank your page. Only Title tags and H tags are considered.

meta-tags isn't the same as meta-keywords.
Meta-tags are description, keywords, title, and all the funky additional meta information that yoast will churn out for twitter, fb and social sites.
Meta-keywords aren't really relevant, but it doesn't mean that you can't add those.
Most importantly, you should set your meta-description and title to the right one. If possible, just use yoast and it should take care the rest of the process for you - you just need to set those up and fire and forget.
