I bought this domain, it has two old links that are linking in on Alexa. However, I submitted my site to a couple directories and started adding content in October of this year. The links are not showing up when I check on Alexa. So today, I'm kind of frustrated with this. Links should definitely be showing by now. I need results ASAP. I started creating way more content on my site and submitting my site to even more directories. Maybe 50... Any chance I could get blacklisted from this aggressive technique?

Don't use Alexa to check for backlinks .. You should be checking:

- Moz Open Site Explorer
- Majestic
- AHrefs
- Open Site Explorer

I know. I'm just wondering if I added my site to 50 directories and sites today, how long will it take for me to see that? Will I get black listed for doing that?

Two links aren't enough to see results.

No, you won't get blacklisted for a bunch of directory submissions. It's not just about when you post the backlinks, it depends on when the Google bot actually crawls them. You could build 100 links in one day, but it could take Google bots a couple of months to crawl them all, so to Google, they wouldn't know that you posted them all in the same day.

A lot of people will tell you to start slow and build up the amount of links over time, but when it comes to directory submissions, I would say just bang them all out as fast as you want.

Why would you do that? It doesn't improve your seo.

Aren't they all backlinks? I've posted on other sites too, like on medium.com. Is that the way to go?

Contextual links from sites like medium.com are fine, however directories are useless these days.

Instead of getting backlinks from directory, prefer high authority sites & Niche sites, which helps to increase your website traffic.
High Quality Content (750+ words) along with the contextual links will works.
