SEO is getting to where it should be.
You now require a much heavier investment and a marketing approach.
What happens is that people is used to be able to rank top10 for "garcinia cambogia reviews" and bank 20k a month with a $2000 investment. This has only happened because of how broken the algos were; it is now starting to get "tougher" ("the way it should be" for me).
Yes, they are evolving to a way in which you are going to need to invest into a quality approach as opposed of a simplistic strategy to cheat your way into the top. I personally enjoy that and I hope it remains and evolves in the same direction.
Adding to the afore mentioned, there are certain points that I don't quite agree; one of which is the disappearance of truly informative hubs when searching for some terms (such as forums, etc) and having them replaced with "big brands". I believe they should aim to find a balance and to showcase the content that truly informs the users; nontheless, I am sure they will get there.
Anyways, if you still want to go the BH way, there will always be room for it for as long as search engines exist; now if you want to go the legit way, prepare your pocket for heavy investments and an INTELLIGENT marketing team and approach.
Best of luck whatever path you choose; and remember, there are loads of ways away from Google through which you can achieve success with a business. Don't like Google? No worries, there are TONS of options!
I would completely disagree mate and let me tell you why. The freedom of people who don't have a team of workers
or very little cash in their pocket could build a business online and see success. Blocking the opportunity for others who
are just starting out just because you "made it" is a crony way of doing things.
And come on has the SERP results benefited any of us? Not really, in fact their screwed up. So you like the new algorithm
because it limits your competition? One day maybe you wont be able to compete against the people who have deeper pockets than
you and at that point I will see you coming on her complaining.
For anyone starting into the SEO path. Let me shed a little light here... No it's not the 1990s anymore and tons of links
won't do shit for you. Concentrate on link diversity, quality, and forget using spun content in general. Yeah sure you can
use it but not like back in the day. Focus on one project, write content for it and use automation tools to only carry out
quality marketing practices.
SEO harder? Not really but the game changed.
Blackhat works? Yeah, anyone who says it doesn't I will laugh them all the way to the bank.
Focus on building a business and rankings will come.
