I was breaking my head on what went wrong since I was following all the rules of link building velocity, social signals and great content. Just saw a post which says since the Payday update everything has gone awry. At least now I know there needs to be a strong shift in direction.
    Thank you BHW!

SEO can be easier than ever if you are able to think one step ahead of everyone else!

Yep. For years I've went out of my way to avoid making statements like "seo is dead".

And I still don't think its dead. But I DO definitely think Google "broke" SEO as we've come to know it.
I had a method working flawlessly in all the industries I was targeting 6+ months ago.

To the point where I could literally guarantee #1 rankings. But these days, I can't guarantee a thing. And I have absolutely no idea what Google has done to their algo but it's nothing like it use to be. And what worries me more, marketers are usually pretty fast to reverse engineer an update. But this past update, I haven't seen 1 person who has any clue what Google really did... other than confuse the crap out of marketers.

Mostly, it's just quality over quantity.

SEO is getting to where it should be.
You now require a much heavier investment and a marketing approach.

What happens is that people is used to be able to rank top10 for "garcinia cambogia reviews" and bank 20k a month with a $2000 investment. This has only happened because of how broken the algos were; it is now starting to get "tougher" ("the way it should be" for me).

Yes, they are evolving to a way in which you are going to need to invest into a quality approach as opposed of a simplistic strategy to cheat your way into the top. I personally enjoy that and I hope it remains and evolves in the same direction.

Adding to the afore mentioned, there are certain points that I don't quite agree; one of which is the disappearance of truly informative hubs when searching for some terms (such as forums, etc) and having them replaced with "big brands". I believe they should aim to find a balance and to showcase the content that truly informs the users; nontheless, I am sure they will get there.

Anyways, if you still want to go the BH way, there will always be room for it for as long as search engines exist; now if you want to go the legit way, prepare your pocket for heavy investments and an INTELLIGENT marketing team and approach.

Best of luck whatever path you choose; and remember, there are loads of ways away from Google through which you can achieve success with a business. Don't like Google? No worries, there are TONS of options!

SEO is getting to where it should be IMO -- it makes me more money than ever ...

It's obvious that people searching for "how to refinance credit card debt" would want an authority site with reliable info, rather than. refinance-credit-card-debt.info/how-to. Just think what you would want to find if you did the same search query ...

Great content btw. doesn't mean a 500-700 word shallow article written around a keywords.

SEO is long-term, if you want fast cash go for PPC.

SEO as of now is as easy as the keyword density era of SEO! All you need to do is stop complaining, start testing and find what works for you! Simple as that! Never settle for the same thing, Always be on your toes and you'll be doing just GREAT! Now instead of being a quitter and bitching about it, work for it because if others can.. you can!

One phrase: Follow recent case study SEO. The blogs and journeys that share the results of successful, actual current ranking projects are the best "lighthouses" out there to guide people through the sea of countermeasures Google is putting up to frustrate organic marketers.

The game is the same as it ever was---G only wanted people to learn the 'rules' of SEO as a loss leader, to train people to put sites together that were better suited to support their PPC program. In the long term, they view free organic traffic as a drag on their bottom line, so now they're pulling up the drawbridge on access to the 'rules' so as to get most IMers to throw up their hands, and just use Adwords.

I would completely disagree mate and let me tell you why. The freedom of people who don't have a team of workers
or very little cash in their pocket could build a business online and see success. Blocking the opportunity for others who
are just starting out just because you "made it" is a crony way of doing things.

And come on has the SERP results benefited any of us? Not really, in fact their screwed up. So you like the new algorithm
because it limits your competition? One day maybe you wont be able to compete against the people who have deeper pockets than
you and at that point I will see you coming on her complaining. ;)

For anyone starting into the SEO path. Let me shed a little light here... No it's not the 1990s anymore and tons of links
won't do shit for you. Concentrate on link diversity, quality, and forget using spun content in general. Yeah sure you can
use it but not like back in the day. Focus on one project, write content for it and use automation tools to only carry out
    quality marketing practices.

SEO harder? Not really but the game changed.
Blackhat works? Yeah, anyone who says it doesn't I will laugh them all the way to the bank.

Focus on building a business and rankings will come. :)

Well the sites that I ranked before the update is all that is doing well. Haven't heard of a single person who has ranked a site from scratch since May 2014. There maybe some but I know none.
So unless you've actually ranked something after May 2014, feel free to drop a line else its a waste of time showing off your ego based on the sites you ranked when even a donkey could rank a site.

Just go with the Basic Do's at the moment ! you may need to wait longer according to your competition. ! But dont expect anything on Major SERP udpates for few months ! just make the best practices !

Dude just go look at the SEO Packages in the BST section and then imitate what they are doing. There are plenty of websites for free Web 2.0's and PDF's. Just do a forum search and you will get plenty of threads with links to where you can do that. Buy a few articles and just spin/rewrite them to create your links.
