Well, for several years I have tested several Black Hat strategies with my ups and downs. What I hate about Black Hat technics is that usually are for short term, what works now is useless in 6 months or less. I want a steady income, for the long term. I have seen a lot of discussion about what is more important in SEO terms, were do we need to allocate our limited resources?, were do we need to spend our time building sites?.

My main problem is: What is important for Google.

I decided to analyze this problem from a different point of view, "mining data". For those how donĀ“t know what "data mining" is, you take a lot of data, I mean a lot, and start to look for patterns and relations between cause and effect.

I have spend a few weeks and what I have found is amazing, some of our ideas about SEO are right!!!, but some of them are just time and money waste.

Basically some people see clues were there is nothing, let me give you an example:

You buy a tool or service to increase your PR because the seller tells you that this will increase your ranking, he show you proof and everything. You buy the tool or service, it works the first time and never again, what happend????? Well... easy, there was never a correlation between PR and google ranking, the first time works because some random event or another of your efforts. You and your seller were fooled by pure random and data noise.

This is the information I am searching for. The above example is simple an obvious, but I have found more interesting and very very useful data!!! I was planning to write some kind of report and more in deep analysis of each factor, but I would like to here from you, what are the most important questions to answer first. Let me know.

Are you using some tool for that data mining? How are you doing it?

Backlinks from high PR sites are strong bls period. If the page's content is relevant to your site then thats a super backlink. And if the domain is highly relevant to your niche....thats a superrrrrrrrrrrr!!

I never try to apply data mining to SEO because of the amount of work required. But apparently the old technics still apply in a big way, but some factors like the age of the domain is more important than what we estimate.

And some other factors like "keyword density" or "historical backlinks" are not worth investing to much time or money. Just the proper amount to not get sandboxed.
