SEO careers in the future...?

Few years ago when I was looking for a dentist I would write "dentist + myarea" and have to do some reading. Now with googlemaps, I see each dentist on the map and see his reviews directly. Why would a dentist pay for SEO when all he needs is to add his business to googlemaps and encourage the clients to leave a review? SEO for local businesses may be dying. Next, what other buyers exist for SEO? Stores. These will still need SEO but... the Shopping tab that sorts items by price makes me think that maybe Google plans a different future where they are a perfect catalog where nobody can influence it for selfish reasons. Business owners will have to have great reviews and great prices too to stay on top. Google used to be a way for the small business to compete against the old established mega stores, but I think these days belong to the past.

how profitable this career will be a few years from now
The more difficult a task is for doing, the more the price tag is for doing it. This is a basic, accepted and realistic law of economics, trade, commerce & professions. So, if incase SEO becomes more difficult to do in the future, then it would surely be more profitable for SEO folks who in that future, would be able to get SEO "effectively" done. Here, "effectively" means that positive end results are achieved on an ongoing basis.

In Google Maps also SEO is required or rather possible, reviews alone are not enough to rank well in Google Maps, in certain cases, especially if it is a highly competitive niche.
There are SEO folks doing SEO for Google Maps listings.
By the way, Google Maps apart from what it is, is also a search engine.
Every engine or rather every platform on which something or anything can be searched, is considered as a search engine and organic results showing in them can be optimised (atleast upto now).

That "catalog", etc would obviously also be decided by algorithms to a very great extent, hence it can also be manipulated or circumvented.
The best tech brains are not working in Google, Facebook or any of these big tech companies. The best tech brains are happily hustling on the "other side of the fence", earning perhaps 10X more than they would earn if they work for these big tech companies.

SEO won't die imo, but the traffic potential may get lessened if more and more users use AI chatbots to get their quick answers.

In comparison to automated backlinks, most manually created backlinks produce the best results. I believe SEO will continue to grow because of this.

SEO can still be a great career if you have a solid plan.

First of all, you have to get certified. That helps open a lot of doors, especially if you want to be an employee.

The second thing you need to focus on is building a track record of success.

You have to start building a solid portfolio of search ranking success.

Either you rank other people's websites, or you rank your own.

You have to document everything so you can present whoever you're applying to some sort of case study as to how you can take a website that is buried on page 5 in Google rankings all the way to the front page.

Remember, if you want to build a solid career, you have to build it on results because one of the most exciting things about this space is that people are really not hung up about what school you went to or even if you have a college degree.

Instead, they're looking at whether you can do the job or not.

Been practicing and working in SEO for a little bit, but I've been delusional lately and thinking about my career. Question has probably been asked, but plz don't flame, just trying to get honest answers. I'm genuinely curious about how SEO will pan out in the future, I don't want to be one of those people and say "aI wIlL taKe oVeR!!!", but I'm not sure how profitable this career will be a few years from now. Cheers!
All I want to say that the future of SEO is promising for those who are dedicated to staying up-to-date and continuously learning and growing their skills.

The future career in SEO will be good and profitable for those who are professionals.

Google is one of those companies that is way too big to fall.

Search engines may change, my philosophy is to never keep all your eggs in one basket.

Depends how much in the future we are talking about and the advances in technology.

While a robot cannot do what a human does in SEO, we might have a career still.

SEO career is very good. But day by day people want to do SEO related career. This makes it very difficult to build an SEO related career.

SEO won't change at all, google bussines model is based on ads and they can't change it and if someone tries to take down google and their bussines model means that company should be able to handle all google traffic on behalf them but to being honest i do not believe there is a company that can take it down for only that reason how will they manage all that traffic and if google accepts to help you how much you will have to pay as a company per month and how you will get those millions to continue the traffic flowing SEO will defenetely change but won't disapear.

The future of SEO careers looks very promising. According to a recent survey, more than 80% of businesses plan to increase their spending on SEO in the next year, and the demand for SEO professionals is increasing. There are many opportunities for SEO professionals to stay up-to-date on the latest trends in the industry and gain additional certifications, which could lead to higher salaries and more job opportunities.

SEO sector is very big but the competitor are huge. But if you work hardly and prepare your self like a pro then on the seo field the future are bright.

SEO people should be more smart than before..

You have to learn fast and try to profit fast. In the long run (3 years or more), Google may lose most of its users to the GPT Chat and compromise the Search Engine areas.

And yes, it is saturated, there are a lot of people using AI, hiring copywriters at a bargain price, creating huge amounts of content, creating sites in 10 minutes. Even if you are good, you will get so many competitors, that every now and then you will bump into 1 good article from one, 1 good article from another, old domain sites, sites with tons of backlinks. It gets harder and harder to promise results...

I myself don't see myself in this area in 3 years - 5 years. But I will try to take this early AI to profit as much as possible and set sail for a next area.

Whether I am being optimistic or pessimistic, only time will tell.

Anyone that think Ai will take over their job don't even understand how it work, it's AI in real life, not from terminator movie LOL.
better spend your time thinking how to use ai on your workflow, than nonsense panic.
SEO will never die, as long Search Engine exist. heck i can see a lot SEO agency happy with thi AI tool
cheaper budget, more efficien workflow etc

btw yes it will take ove job, ultimately those that reject utlizing it and spend this time we have to nonsense panic, not learng to use it

I think SEO careers have more changes in the future.
