i was in the library today and got this idea about pirating expensive books and sell them as used books on ebay...
there are books that are worth a couple hundred of dollars. you just have to find a place that reprints the book and then sell it on ebay or amazon.
what do you guys think?

I'm sorry that's a bad idea man. I think there are legal ways to make money that are eeasier than that.

This is not personal but I think this idea sucks. It will be difficult to find someone who will make copies of a book and resell it illegally. There will also be cost with reprinting. The only way I see this happening is if you outsource this to China.

Also, if you're in the US and if you get caught, you can spend some serious time in jail and face huge fines.

I really don't think there's much money to be made in this endeavor.

you should try and see if you can make some profit

Yeah you are asking to get your balls busted big time. If anything, scan them OCR and sell it as an ebook...but even that I would avoid. Publishers don't like that stuff...

i wasn't talking about stealing the book from the library... just scan it into a pdf, send it to china and get a hardcover book back like the original...

it's not different from selling replica shirts...

or instead of people buying pirated books from you they could go to the library.

How about finding rare books and converting them to audio? You could strike a deal with
the copywrite owners and if it's out of print not many people would've read it either.

there are print agencies like cafepress.com or simmilar...
and you just sell it as a used book on amazon. so you can be cheaper than the original book...
a medicine student who has to buy a $ 300,- book is going to buy a 50,- bucks cheaper used book...

that's about as smart as selling pirated dvds and music....
what are you gonna do when the publisher comes after you?

reselling digital info products is your best bet, but you gotta be careful

If a book is more than 50 years old isn't the copyright expired anyway, I know someone who did this with children's books at Christmas and made some good coin.

This might help: http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/okbooks.html

I didn't read the whole thing but it talks about how to reproduce online and related stuff so might be worth a glance/read.

IMHO the risk vs. reward is too great. You could probably make some coin with it once you set everything up, but personally I wouldn't want to be looking over my back that closely.

Good luck OP if you go for it

Here's your flow:

Move to China
Buy books from US every day from the top 10/50/100 list on amazon's most popular literature (IC/[RC])

Get China man to copy the books and reprint them with same layout

Make your website in which you sell these 'replicas' at half the original cost of the real book and receive $$$

Market your shit via eBay (until banned), Amazon (until banned), Craigslist, Adwords (until banned) and other means.
Hopefully at this point you'll get some recurring book-lovers that want books for half the price.
Best of yet is if you invest in a lot of study-books and sell to university/high school kids. They f'ing need new books EVERY year...And they're mostly poor; so you see why they'd go yours instead of their local bookstore? ;)

What you need to worry about is the initial cost of investment for original books. Being able to estimate how many replicas you need. Also ....Mathbooks is like a pure winner.

Good luck :)

That's the same like to sell a replica of a very expensive painting.
You can better search the book from the libary online and print it out, or just scan the rare on your computer, every page and then sell the ebook like a real book.

Just my 2 cents...

Try PLR products instead. Much more legal lol. You could check out iranjava PLR section, get some products, reg a domain name and start buying adwords traffic to your ebook sites. Much better idea IMHO.

so i sell plr ebooks that actually are for free???

desperation is the worst adviser. no offense but stealing wallets and bags can make you fast cash also. lol - Go for it!

You received a gift woth billions or more it is called a Brain.

USE IT for GOOOOODDDD!!
