Hello guys, i'm a seo specialist with 2 years experience. and i want to have my own side hustle.
do you guys think it's a good idea to buy an expired domain , start selling backlinks spots for cheap prices and work on the website and charge for more with time ?
Has anyone in here already done that ? can you tell me about your experience ? and what should i look into before starting this ?

It basically sounds like selling a PBN service but with only 1 domain in the network. You're gonna need a really strong domain to attract any buyers. If the expired domain you find has decent existing content available via archive.org etc, then you could try rebuilding the site and selling niche edits from existing pages.

Yes exactly since i already work and i have a limited budget it's more convenient for me to start with one website and build my way up.

This is actually a good idea if you're on a budget.
But you probably already know that progress will take you some time.
 
Whether you start with one domain or a hundred, the most crucial and challenging aspect is attracting customers. Do you have any plans for this?

Essentially, your idea is a smaller version of rank & rent.

Starting off, I'd suggest that you should specifically look into qualifying expired domains. Figuring out quality expired domains vs spammed/fake metric domains.
 
Actually its a good idea i would say give it a try you have enough knowledge and you know the process.
 
Before you decide to do something you have to consider many factors then if ok you should start working immediately to get good results.
 
If you have an idea, you should start early, don't let time pass, you will miss out on many things
 
Get listed at an agency that sells articles. Let them acquire customers.

This way you can focus on building the site
 
First thing if you wanna start with 1 domains then its gonna be niche relevant and that domain should have clean history and relevant articles. Yeah, you need to work on the website before selling if you wanna increase your sales then you need a network of domains..

If I were you, I would have treated that as a money site and slowly built up on low-competition keywords in that niche. Soon when you Rank for a few keywords and start generating traffic then you can sell Guest posts at a higher price than you would in the beginning, with Zero traffic! You can also monetize that site as the traffic increases!
