Schema Errors: Affect SEO?

Hello Everyone,

I receive the following error when testing my schema: "Failed to normalize the rating value."

Is it absolutely necessary to resolve the error? Do errors in the schema/structured data reduce page rank, affect SEO etc.?

The workaround to fix the error is to change the "worst rating" value to zero instead of one. However, none of my products have ratings so to me this would imply that they all have the worst rating possible if I change the markup value to zero. Any advice?

There is no evidence that schema will help rankings in any way. I have included schema to all my client websites just because it doesn't hurt either. If you get an error and don't know how to fix it then don't stress about this too much.
