So many blanket statements by Debian. "None of you have ethics" for example. This is very complex subject. If you cheat (SEO,media sites etc ) to get visibility from clients, and then treat your clients in fair and decent way, and those clients like working with you, are you unethical? I asked a while ago, about his "new" plan, and what justification went into selling ipv6 at $1 (that's on top of the initial setup fee), and he says it's residential. So, do any of you think that's a good justification?

It's the same scam. Those are not actual residential ips, they are datacenter ips with fake data on a public database that is well-known to be totally unreliable and they are trivially detectable as non-residential.

TBH I think he was waiting for the ban, he's been pushing buttons ever since @jazzc called him on his service.

I'm not going to pretend I even know what they were talking about when the discussion got all technical but I do believe that debian was hoping or even relying on the ignorance of people here to continue offering his substandard service.

Fortunately we have mods and members that obviously know more on the subject than he gave credit for.

It was only a matter of time before he pushed too far.

Do you know how many public proxy and vpn companies actually do this? Quite a few. I actually agree on this point.

I don't think the objection was on what he was actually doing, more that it was being portrayed as something else.

Ok on that point when you drink a coke do you demand the manufacturer gives you the exact recipe so you can inspect every detail of it before enjoying it? Most likely not because the manufacturer would decline your request as a matter of intellectual property. Same thing would apply here. Not one seller here would give up his source code, his methods of operating, or the ingredients that make up his product or service. So why the 6th degree with this guy? Logic tells me you don't stick with a method for many years if it doesn't work. You wouldn't have any clients. So if the method works, which I only see 1 or 2 complaints that it doesn't why blast it? Why condemn something that most likely will work for a majority?
