king i understood what he said very well, just because make $ in 1 area
dont go nuts and blow it in untested methods, expand what u already no
make it pay more, and save a few $ for a rainy day....as he said

so when your first 10 thousand dollar check comes it doesn't mean you go out & try every method you couldn't afford to before you had that money, it's more like continue what you're doing & save your money. Then when opportunity comes that seems too good to pass up, try it, but never slow down on what got you there in the first place.

stick to what your best at he does say that....

but never slow down on what got you there in the first place

I disagree. a dollar is chump change, and sticking with what you know is not good advice at all.

Get out of your fucking comfort zone, and learn something worth while.

Bigger problems that you solve, the bigger paydays you receive.

perfect advice. just what i needed. Now i have to get rich first :P

I realise you are trying to explain what is necessary in order to succeed in IM, however, it seems to me that this:

"...when opportunity comes that seems too good to pass up, try it, but never slow down on what got you there in the first place."

is in direct opposition to this:

"...People struggle because of 2 reasons, 1 of them is the tunnel vision, they're only focused on one thing & fail to see the other opportunity out there."

If you're serious about helping people, you may want to reconsider what you wrote, because right now you're sending out two different messages.

FWIW I totally agree with the first quote.

they don't contradict, it's just about balance.

none of us ever go as fast as we could, I doubt anyone's doing a single thing 24/7. What I'm saying is, do the things that brought you success in the first place, but always keep a window open for new things/ideas/opportunities, dedicate a portion of your time, but don't let it come at cost of neglecting the first thing.

This is a smart post, good that you've made this thread. :)
It should remind some of us not to forget it can all go away.

If you don't stick to one thing then you're never going to have a big enough momentum to do something incredible, if you're really talented you could be good at a lot of things but never truly great.

You can solve problems all you want but what meaning does it really have when you don't have proper funding to maximize their potential? You see campaigns spawning all the time, but many times the person behind it isn't the one who goes on to push it the most & makes the most money.

as to the guy who called this a rant, not a rant at all bro, never that.

Now what has that got to do with anything?

It's more of a marketing advice, but a lot of us are actually out of touch with what's going on in the world, and there's a lot of foreign people who simply don't know.

Most of us are marketers.

I wish people having BST threads selling articles could write like this. This is the style people read.

No one likes:"With the advent of technology...bla bla bla" crap that most of them are selling.

Dude, the OP is telling us that we should KEEP the money and u are saying that we should SPEND money buying motivation articles?

How about this - for every dollar you earn:
1/3 - reinvest into gaining more traction on your current projects
1/3 - invest into a new idea and diversify
1/3 - spend as you wish

Sticking to what you are good at is horrible advice. If I just stuck to what I was good at originally
I would be swinging a hammer. Henry Ford would have been a pocket watch repairman or farmer.

The point he was making was not the industry you choose, it was about saving money and not letting
success get to your head which I completely agree with.

Kinda. But when it comes to this business and "methods" it's better to stick to one and master it, automate as much as you can, outsource and then go for the next thing once the income is there.

Great post, great read.

Now your statement got even more cloudy. Never mind.

I've always wondered what happens to those people who come on here, make some decent money than vanish never to be seen again. I've always felt like the admin of BHW is abducting them all, putting them all in a master computer lab, and whipping them with chains to make him money. And I'm sure that Zerofoxtrot is somewhere in that room. Poor guy. :p

take this from a vet, I've been doing this since 2004, I made my first real money in 2005.

To anyone who dedicates themselves every day to internet marketing for a year, 365 days, one hour on learning, one hour on expanding your horizon, 4-6 hours on doing (12+ if you don't have a full time job), doing mostly consisting of networking/learning the popular culture, and actually building things, within that year success will come. Although I must warn you, if you're not hip to the American culture, it could take longer, & you're definetly cutting yourself short if you don't. That's all I have to say about that aspect.

I've seen people come in and learn the game, get good at it, get rich, fall off, lose it all, & never heard from again.

Because save your fucking money, it's not always about not buying luxurious things to prevent going broke, people go broke one reason only, spending more money than they should, so when your first 10 thousand dollar check comes it doesn't mean you go out & try every method you couldn't afford to before you had that money, it's more like continue what you're doing & save your money. Then when opportunity comes that seems too good to pass up, try it, but never slow down on what got you there in the first place.

People struggle because of 2 reasons, 1 of them is the tunnel vision, they're only focused on one thing & fail to see the other opportunity out there. The other reason is because they continuously seek out for the next best thing & never spend enough time to get good enough & gain traction at one thing.

Money's easy, but it's easy come easy go, save it, once you get it & lose it then it becomes much harder to get back, that's dangerous & could kill you. IM money is a drug, we're all addicted to it, newbies are addicted to it without actually ever experiencing it. Save it, pace yourself, it's better to be cheap when you have money than when you don't have money & it's your only option.

Not sure which is worse................the OP or some of the subsequent rampant back slapping. What is it that you think you are backslapping guys? Nothing out of the ordinary being stated here. This is business 101 and you should have been accustomed to it from the second you bought your first domain name. It's called a 'Business Plan'. Basic stuff.

Been in offline business for 30 years and have multiple income streams due to re-investing, re-investing and re-investing some more. Nothing revolutionary about that if you are a serious business man/woman rather than a flashin the pan internet marketer who is in it for a quick buck. Most are and most will fail I hear. Not surprised really considering how many seem to operate.

Always been good business practice to re-invest at least 67% of your takings directly back into your business, put 13% aside for business contingencies,10% for business running costs and 10% towards paying your own general living expenses. If that 10% for general living expenses isn't enough to actually pay your general living expenses then you are either in the wrong business altogether (which many IM are), don't have enough income streams or you are living beyond your means. Simples.

If you can manage to do that for 12 months then you are on the right track. Notice that there is no ‘luxuries' money. That is how a real business operates and usually takes approximately 5 years before you can safely say that you have created a sustainable long term business. Ahhhhh.....but wait,we can all do this internet marketing stuff and be mega rich within 12 months........lol. How many IM do you personally know who last that long......NONE! Unless you live onbutton moon with the clangers. Those that are successful usually come out of the woodwork after 4 to 5 years once they actually know what it is they are doing. They don't tell you that though when they are selling you a great product that can have you rolling on autopilot and earning within a month .lol.

A vet of ten years and you're on Blackhatworld with the kids? Pull the other one, it has bells on!

Can't remember the last time I sold anything to an American. Can't remember the first time either. In fact, I don't think I've ever sold anything to an American. (I may have given one herpes, but that's another story). Perhaps that's why we still live in the dark ages over the pond in the UK and we still drag our women-folk around by the hair and hunt with clubs and spears. lol. FFS call me a cab.

Common sense isn't common, so what might be obvious to you isn't obvious to most of us, you've been doing business for 30 years? that's awesome, 4 years longer than I have been alive.

Nobody said anyone will get mega rich within 12 months, or even rich, all I said within 12 months you'll be able to make a living off this, which seems more than reasonable to me. Would it be long term sustainable business? No of course not, there's no such thing as long term sustainable business when it comes to IM, I'm afraid the "quick buck" is the only reasonable approach you can even take when doing this, only way to stay competitive & relevant.

And as far as selling to American and what not, that's irrelevant, the entire world follows American trends more or less. The entire world knows who Chicago Bulls are, but BeÅŸiktaÅŸ on other hand, not so much.

Why did you join?

The OP was giving good advice that needs to be heard more often. I guess for a couple
who were expecting a gold nugget in their ear will leave disappointed.

Dayam, someone feels like they have a really small e-penis today.

30 years of experience yet you espouse the most generic bullshit I've ever read on BHW.

First you say you're offline, when most people on here are online so you warn us that what you're about to say is mostly irrelevant.

Then you pull some random, stinky #'s out of your ass saying it takes "5 years" to build a business? Serious? You sure it's not 3 years? Or 8 years?

Then you go on muttering more irrelevant bs and refer to most BHW members as "kids" when we have a long standing poll on here that proves otherwise.

How much a person invests back into their biz is directly related to their business model, overhead, cost per customer, ROI, etc. Some guys put 100% back other guys put 40%. There is no magic number. Your advise is sub-par with most the shit I read over at WaFo.

And look, if you're really having that bad a day grumpy gramps, go put on some diapers, snuggle up in your comforter and try to take a nap please w/out pissing the bed.
