I'm having trouble finding a profitable niche that isn't already over saturated. Is it a stupid idea to jump into a niche that I don't know a lot about if I'm finding a lot of untapped long-tail keywords I could use for pulling in traffic?

These keywords would be loaded into SEO'd articles that I know I could rank easily, but I'm worried that article traffic alone won't be enough to make the site profitable. Is pulling thousands of views a month from articles worth the time I'm going to be spending putting them together and ranking them, or would I be better off setting up a MNS in an untapped niche?

Are you going to write the content yourself? In that case go for something you like since it's really hard writing good articles about something you're not interested of.

Every niche is saturated, when people are excited about 1600 monthly broad searches per month, everything is saturated. You should get into something that you understand, can monetize and can be successful in.

There is no such thing as an over saturated niche. It's all about the content you have and if people like what you have to offer. Look at the other competitors in that niche and duplicate what they do but better.

most saturated niches are the ones with high traffic... but why is it saturated and is being saturated even more??? because there probably is enough traffic to go around...my thoughts :)

Find a nice where you can provide the best content in the world for that niche and go for it. If the niche is over-saturated then you are "niched" enough.

For example:
- don't do a site for planning a wedding, do a site for planning a wedding for Internet marketers.
- don't do a site for learning to fly, do one for learning to fly when you are afraid of heights.
- etc.

Whatever it is make sure you know the niche. If you don't then you'll have to outsource the content generation to someone who does.

Go product rather than niche to begin with. A specific product or range.
Not "Ipad" as 3 trillion other people are doing that - Get yourself an RSS reader and join some of the "tech" sites and the big electronic, pharma, auto and other manufacturers feeds.
Scan the new feeds every day for upcoming product launches.

That's one idea - you never run out of niches because you never run out of products.
The one issue with this is the products often have a life span - often between 6 months and 5 years - most 2-3 years. But you can earn like a good 'un in the mean time.

Scritty

As said above, every niche is saturated.

It don't matter how many car salesmen are on the lot. All that matters is which ones can make sales. :)

Doesn't matter if the niche is saturated, you can always find new keywords to rank for that particular niche anyway :)

There exist some niches that have no competition, but they are very rare. If you do enter into a niche where there's some competition, just market as normal. Put up a squeeze page, generate leads, and market to them continuously.

There are lots of GREAT saturate niches with crazy conversions, these niches are better than any unsaturated non converting bs.

If you are new to IM then look for uncompetitive niches or products to get started. Once you gain good SEO and marketing skills then aim for tougher niches. No such thing as a saturated niche and all comes down to your skills and budget to dominate that niche.

Best answer.

saturated niches are good, just because others use it doesn't mean that you can't make some money out of it!

Just jump into any niche that you can rank easily in. As long as money is coming in, it shouldn't matter. And when you see a niche that's saturated, that usually means tons of affiliates are still banking hard. Usually a good sign
