hey. so after failing miserably in trying to find a payment processor for a saas that doesn't ask for ID, and having to consider just send my stuff to 2checkout and getting an account, i'm now stuck in the taxes part. i'm absolutely illiterate to everything related to taxes and accounting. i thought about just charging in crypto and forgetting about it but the reach would be so minimal, that i should just try with regular payment methods.

how does taxes for saas work? im located in southamerica (vat), but i plan to sell worldwide, so i have no clue to what i have to comply with or percentages or how to even pay those taxes. it's not a hassle for me because i'm against taxes, which i'm not, it's just that i have literally no clue how that works, even less so for a saas website.

in 2checkout or paypal, i'll create the account as individual/sole proprietor but still, i don't know if even not being a business, taxes apply.

i need like, legal advice, not ways to circumvent the taxes, btw

Why not just use Paddle? https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/anyone-using-paddle-com-payment-gateway.1118426/

Better still, basically learn how tax work.

so, I just signed up in paddle and looks great but there's a part asking for id verification and business verification. I don't have a business, it's just a website, and on the other hand, the id verification so i'm again at zero. I read your thread from 2019 "I have set up my Paddle account with zero document required." and maybe that changed now

There's no way you will find anyone that will offer you such service without KYC, forget about it.
I know mate, that's why in my original post I said that I'd just send the info to 2checkout or maybe risk it with paypal (knowing they freeze accounts for nothing), and I was mostly focusing in some taxes guidance. I just had my hopes renewed because @crystalwiz mentioned paddle and his/her thread said that no verification was needed.

Oh maybe things change now. Back then, it was only sign up as sole proprietorship or individual biz, very smooth. And I could accept Paypal payments without having a PayPal account.

May I know what documents they are asking for now?

Sometimes I forget about paddle. they specialize in saas and digital products payment processing right?

Cant help but notice your post was made in 2019. Did they ask for other documents throughout the years?

Yes SaaS and downloadable digital products only.

It didn't require a single doc back in 2019. My product was merely an ebook and I made some sales using my blog. Good old days.

damn, too late for me then. They are asking for "domain approval" which is totally understandable, and then "business identification" and "identity verification", which would make it, nowadays, even harder to start with than paypal or 2checkout, as paddle now doesn't allow, to apply as individual/sole proprietor

Did you find a suitable payment gateway now?

Some tax advise for free:
  • If not wanting to be a criminal in the EU, on all sales to EU consumers you must charge VAT once you reached the 10,000 EUR EU threshold.
  • There is a high chance you don't have to charge VAT on customers from international customers (f.ex. US or Canada, except EU). You have to check with an accountant about your local laws.
  • Evade tax, do copyright infringements, do whatever, but don't fuck with VAT evasion.
  • With a company f. ex. in the UK or Cyprus you have easy access to payment processing. Combined with other locations, the tax can minimized.

If you cant afford an accountant, the money is not enough to do this sort of risky business in the first place.

Scale up first or move on.
