So I was listening to radio while coming home and there was this jeweller in my city who is a success and he basically tells that don't get into business if you haven't completed your education and that is the tip he gave.

What do you guys reckon?

Running a business with education or without education?

Most of the biggest fishes were college dropouts.

Doesn't matter.

My education, bachelor's degree, hasn't helped me at all. I should have skipped university and started a business.
He said that with education you get to know the benefits onh to run a business

He is into jewelry business

Google "survival bias". You heard the stories of successful college dropouts... but thats because they "made it". However they are 0.0000001% of the people without education who failed miserable at life, worked manual low paying back breaking jobs. Education is the most secure way to "middle" class. If you have it, even if you fail on your business ventures there is still something to fall on. Without education? Flipping burgers is what`s left for you. And the truth is that the vast majorities of businesses fail. So you can gamble your future, at really bad odds, or play safe. Your choice.

But does education teaches business?

Else, there's always a job is that what you saying?

It's a big difference between "School education" and "Education". For example, a lot of rich people simply abandoned higher education, once they've been there. But they weren't uneducated. They had some basic information behind and they had the ability to transform that information into success. So, yes: +1 for Business with education ( not necessary the school/university degree ). Another important thing to know is that a school or university degree will never assure you of a job or a successful business. Here you can see a list with this kind of "uneducated fellows": https://money.com/15-super-successful-people-who-never-graduated-college/

Later Edit: The BHW forum may represent a good source of education.

If education is required, then there is generally no getting around it. Lawyer = Must have credentials. No exceptions. Painter = Credetials + Training is helpful, but not required, can be self taught.

Same goes for associated businesses.

He is just saying it because he has an inferiority complex and wants to feel superior.
Could be and also maybe worst advice who knows?

It's because he's successful in my city but that's about it!

If you can`t educate yourself with the internet, you just can`t learn fuck all in this life.

  • There are open universities as Khan University
  • Plenty of case studies
  • Loads of tutorials
  • Loads of tips

Learn, fail, success.
or
Veni, vidi, vici

Here is my ULTIMATE education course for selling jewelry.

Buy diamonds from Wholesaler
Sell diamonds in shop

You are welcome.
haha true

What do you think if someone has made a name for himself in his own city, does that make him look successful?

I like this quote:

Don't let schooling interfere with your education.

- Mark Twain

Yes education is extremely important, but why would it have to come from a university?
Because everyone wants that paper proof :(

Seems solid advice.. I didn't finish my education and earn way more now than the ones who did

education does indeed matter.

not the formal education. Self education through books, courses etc. And its a process not a goal. So you have to always keep learning.

most college graduates think they know everything after graduation and they are unwilling to learn. That's why they are still doing a job and don't take risks like starting a business
