Android IS open source, but google play store, navigation etc aren't. Without google play store, android is pretty useless.

Lol that's a dumb remark. I didn't expect that from you. Ofcourse it's not about money. It is about value for money. I wouldn't ever buy a shit hardware for 3 times the price, with a closed source os which doesn't allow you to do shit. The whole apple eco system is shit.
I do agree that when iphone was launched for the first time, it introduced a lot of things that android guys copied later on. Now a days, it's a different story.
Oh, and do not forget the other smart devices...

I call all this bullshit. They were probably spying on users, but China is not interested in a average Joe who don't know a shit. Google know what you were eating today and then we are all like "oh no, china is spying on us". I don't use google for years and it's fucking possible and not hard at all. It seems that huawei knew that this gonna happen because they worked on their OS and they also used kirin chipset instead of relying on snapdragon which also banned them. Also this will impact development of 5g in US in a negative way and many people will lose jobs probably. No one can't deny quality of the hardware they were selling and who wants it, he will use it. Some custom rom + gapps manually installed, there is always a way.
