RIP Huawei - Google restricts Huawei's use of Android

Huawei won't die without Android.

this could be bad for people who use huawei device.
this could be the beginning of something big too but if it isn't its actually bad for consumer since there will be a monopoly this could happen to any company that operates outside usa.

even if huawei comes up with its own OS
it will take loooong time to get all those popular apps.
and who is going to buy device that doesn't support basic google products? without things like a youtube app no one is going to buy.

As per that article, the rule will (might) only apply to the upcoming devices and not the current ones. So, I guess the current owners will be fine..

Quote from BBC
Existing Huawei smartphone users will be able to update apps and push through security fixes, as well as update Google Play services.

But when Google launches the next version of Android later this year, it may not be available on Huawei devices.

It's like comparing Rolls-Royce and Honda :)
I'm the 'fanboy' in this case for sure!

Except rolls royce is built to last 100years and iphone dies after a forced system upgrade...the usp for iphone is no longer there as many manufacturers are in the same zone the 'show' is only what is its usp hence the huge price increase as apple know this so the harder it is to purchase the more street cred you have unless you understand the purpose of your phone

You have raised a good point. Nothing against @se900se though. He uses apple devices because he likes them. Good enough reason.
But then.. in general.. apple is using nasty tactics these days to increase their sales. Louis Rossmann, a well known youtuber, has lot's of videos which show the exact problem with apple eco system.
Here's one:
Here's what happened to Linus Sebastian from Linus Tech Tips..

Draw your own conclusion lol, but I'm not buying apple products anytime soon. :D

Depending on how you use it and taking care of your stuff! You can drive RR into a wall, so it's not only about lasting.
I never even broke a screen on my iPhones or ever had any issues with any Apple devices, I changed my mac after 7 years of using it. I change my iPhone only because I got a free upgrade. I am not sure what's 'usp' to be honest. The price is there for a reason (to filter the crowd) - iPhone is not for everyone.

This sucks! Clearly a case of killing the competition by playing dirty! However, Huawei makes its own processors and as per the benchmarks, they do perform as well as Qualcomm processors. As far as software is concerned, the open source Android will still be available, however no play store etc. Huawei will need to invest in their own playstore version which although difficult is definitely not impossible. For Huawei fans, prices of Huawei phones will fall so it will soon be a good time to buy!

This price filtration is exactly my point. They say super cars manufacturer like lambos and Ferraris never advertise cos the average joe watching these won't be sitting infront of the coach. So apple contradict this by setting an unusually higher price than other phones and then want to filter these people out as well? Not really for them it's more the merrier they don't care about the children who will pressurise their working class parents to spend their weekly/monthly (depending on country) salary on this. This is why I don't like apple in particular not only is it bad that they restrict their systems but also culturally it is not progressive (something gogle keeps mentioning about their eco system)

My point about rolls royce wasn't about breakages, it was quite simple actually. A software upgrade set by the manufacturer crashes their own products in whos mindset would this be a product well made? Just the average Joe who thinks buying an expensive set to filter them out from from someone who can't afford it.

Just my opnion no offence intended :anyway:

None taken!

You're wrong about the advertising of supercars, they do advertise, and I see it where I live, though, maybe we live in different areas/countries.

For every brand - the more sales the merrier, at the end of the day, it's all about money, but since you can't have all the money in the world it is better to filter 'average joe' for a number of reasons, one of them is to attract more sales, give exclusivity. iPhone is associated with a luxury car (to me) while Android with a smelly subway that always late (like NYC subway, though, that's my opinion, not an official statement). iPhone has very specific marketing that shapes the image of an average iPhone user and it's not an 'average joe'. Who cares that subway can bring you from point A to point B faster, I refer to spent an extra 15 minutes but drive a car.

Android does care about the children the same way as Apple, as you just said it yourself 'for them it's more the merrier'.
There are some restrictions, but everyone has some kind of restrictions to make people unhappy about. It's a choice of a buyer to agree or disagree on those restrictions - I never had an issue with any restrictions from my iPhone!

I have no idea what you talking about :) and not trying to convince you that ios and iPhone better than any Android, it's a choice.
Some can afford RR but still drives Honda, it's not even about the money, but an image, feel, etc.

bad news for Huawei and good news for china , such action will make Chinese focusing on developing 100% Chinese technologies in future .
