RIP Google. Make way for the new King.

I always thought, if I try to rank for google, I will automatically rank in bing

I have said this before and I'll say it again:

In the near future, ALL top 30 results for ANY keyword will be owned by Fortune 500 Companies.

The MAJORITY of Google's revenue comes from Fortune 500 Companies; they do not care about the little guy, at all.

That is why google still rules. The most important thing is to continue to create new ways, which could even include trial and error methods, to beat every algo that is released.

one of my niche sites old stats:

70.000 visitors per month from google
2.000 visitors per month from yahoo
500 visitors per month from bing

and that site had very good rankings for google, yahoo and bing.

so Bing needs to offer affiliate program ?

oops never mind it actually does have a rewards program :-)

There was a big thread here 2 -3 weeks ago of the exact same update. And now again...? Let's just analyse what is going on.

1. I am wandering is this update g00gle.com wide or .co.uk? I say this because when a lot were complaining about a fall in rankings a couple of weeks ago, most of my sites stayed in place on g00gole.co.uk. So can people confirm if the sites effected are on .co.uk? If this is the case then there is light at the end of the tunnel. From what i remember from the previous thread, many sites came back after a few days.

2. Many of my sites that got hit ALL had pure unique, quality content, most with in-content themed links. Now the only reason i can see for the hit (from my perspective) is that fact that some sites had some footer links pointing back from blogs and i had links from my own network which i didn't really bother protecting for footprints. Now i was well aware that i was open to a hit for these 2 main reasons and i guess that's what happened. If i was you guys, i would question the reason for the sites falls to get a better understanding of how to get out of the mess (and share your findings here to beat g00gle.

In my case i was half expecting the hit because of the reasons mentioned. I was more conscious of this because i learnt that it was coming a few months ago. I am now gonna either, re-optimise some of the main sites hit (by removing the BL's from my network and gaining quality links and also start work on a couple of fresh domains to optimise with this update in mind.

I would encourage ALL to share WHY they could/ they have been hit to help us decide how to combat the update. Moaning like many others have will not do anything apart from sinking your further in the shit.

cheers

The update really is funny. I have 3 EMD. 2 of my EMD have 100+ pages of good unique content - each getting 1000k+ visitors a day. About 90% whitehat. No networks or anything, but a few iffy blog comments. Those 2 EMD have both dropped 2 positions for their exact match keywords.

1 EMD I have has 4 articles. It jumped to #1 today for its exact match keyword after being at position 8 or 9 for months.

Small case study, but interesting nonetheless.

If Google wants to combat spam all they have to do is devalue every single link that is not passing TRAFFIC through it. Links that get traffic through them are relevant and high quality most of the time. Someone please explain to me why that would not work? Google has analytics on most people's sites...

Everyone' using Google. Period.

If you want something new just go w/ bing & yahoo (same se) and lick up your badass ^^

Those who make such threads, don't know shit about SEO.

Life keeps changing and you need to change accordingly.

Do you know someone in past said something like "Survival of Fittest" ?

right guys,

following on from my post above, i have done a quick analysis of just some of my domains that have almost zero links and get ready to be surprised... The less links a domain has, the better the rankings. Here is an example:

>> EMD domain in a competitive niche (web design)
>> There are no pages on domain, NOTHING, all i have done is set the host account and changed nameservers but nothing has been set up. So if you goto the domain, you see the directory listing (Index of / ...)
>> intitle competition: 3 million!
>> current ranking 29

This is quite astonishing. What does it tell me? It tells me that G is just blanket slapping my sites with BL's because it has assumed the links to be for seo purpose only. As i said before, I have normally done WH/ GH links apart from footer links (from related sites), and links from small network of good quality sites. So what's the conclusion? G is simply cracking down on BL's it easily detects as built for seo. There is no surprise there from my side. It was going to do this sooner or later (and it actually makes sense from their perspective). My advice is that you have a closer look at your sites to see what you can change to adopt to the changes.

Well, what can I say. We are humans and humans adapt to the changes.. Yea you can go to Bing :D more money for me ahah

Ranking on the #1 Spot at Bing will make you broke, since it has 1/100 of Google traffic

While people have been complaining my site jumped up about 23 points on Google the same day of the algo change. Smarten up people. You CAN succeed with Google.

Yes... yes... Everyone go to Bing........ Let me handle Google... hehe..... Google Rocks with the ones who knows to rock Google others can go wherever they want. Lots of updates but still I am rocking in the rankings..... :beach2(2)

I was at Microsoft HQ a while back and they proudly said 4 million people in the UK use don't use Google. I stopped and did a quick bit of maths, thats about 6%! (I couldn't get why they were so proud of it till I looked round the room and realised the day wwas aimed at business owners not IMers)

That said, Bing and Yahoo traffic does convert better. Look at your analytics, if they're anything like the sites I manage your average user from those two sites spends far more time on site then the average Google user, it's just there's barely any of them about!
BUT if you were a business looking to advertise, would you rather advertise on the bigger network where next to noone clicks and most of those that do don't convert, or the network with less traffic which is more likely to convert?

It'll be a long time coming, but this is just the same as AOL / IE in the 90's, noone ever thought they'd be toppled either, but they offered shit service and user experience for so long that they got sucker punched by services which didn't treat the user like a revenue stream.

Yes Yuki I did expect this day to come, however, not nearly so soon. At least a year I thought. Anyway, I am updating and tweaking my webspam to make it hopefully acceptable to the algorithm. Hopefully it will work, touch wood.

Personally I like Bing and currently it is giving better results than Google is. If Google doesn't correct there stuff, Bing will start to slowly catch up in the market place and combined with a few other good search engines like DuckDuckGo.com they might wrangle a 50% market share which would be GREAT news for SEO marketers.
