The update really is funny. I have 3 EMD. 2 of my EMD have 100+ pages of good unique content - each getting 1000k+ visitors a day. About 90% whitehat. No networks or anything, but a few iffy blog comments. Those 2 EMD have both dropped 2 positions for their exact match keywords.
1 EMD I have has 4 articles. It jumped to #1 today for its exact match keyword after being at position 8 or 9 for months.
Small case study, but interesting nonetheless.
If Google wants to combat spam all they have to do is devalue every single link that is not passing TRAFFIC through it. Links that get traffic through them are relevant and high quality most of the time. Someone please explain to me why that would not work? Google has analytics on most people's sites...
